Post by: ronwisegamgee on March 25, 2022, 06:26:50 AM
Greetings, folks.

My name is Ronwise Gamgee and I am the creator of the Quick & Dirty RPG System.

I'm currently in the process of getting my product page verified on DriveThruRPG, but in the meantime, I would like to share my promo video with all of you.

Let me know what you think and feel free to ask me anything regarding Quick & Dirty.

Amusing promo...

But could you tell us a little more about the system? Do those three dice correlate to stats?

Cheers,

R.

One die correlates to the most relevant approach you use when describing how you go about your task.  The default approaches are Bold, Careful, Clever, Forceful, Quick, and Sneaky.

One die correlates to your current well-being.  The default state of well-being is Stable, which is set at a d8.  Well-Being can improve (Invigorated at d10 or Unfettered at d12) or worsen (Distressed at d6, Crisis State at d4, or Out of Action [loss of agency]) as a consequence of events within the narrative.

One die correlates to the relevance of the tool you're using.  Unlike Approach and Well-Being, tools don't have a set die rating.  Instead, the die rating is circumstantial to the situation: an arming sword may be a Great (d10) tool to plunge into the belly of an unarmored hobgoblin bandit you're engaged in battle with, but is an Ill-suited (d4) tool when it comes to bursting through a locked wooden door before the horde of zombies catches up to you.

So essentially, your dice pool = current well-being die, approach die, and tool die.

This thread might better belong in the News and Adverts forum than here. (Apologies for being That Guy.)

I'm going to tell my wife, "I want to play Quick & Dirty".  Very catchy name for your RPG.

I gave it a read. It does not fit my needs so it is hard to offer useful commentary on it. I did strongly agree with some of the design choices, and appreciate that someone else took to the same inspirations. I see it as character narrative focused whereas  I gravitate to the characters only matter because they undertook the titular quest and need to be captivating enough to justify their screen time.

This was close to my reaction as well. I did find the promo video amusing!
