This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Holy shit.  I'd seen the Wizardawn stuff before but the Dungeon Generator on the second page you posted is amazing!

They're pretty awesome. I even like Donjon's World generator, and, many times, have thought of running a campaign using a random donjon map, as well as the overland hex contents generator in Wizardawn. I'm ashamed to say I don't know the names of the people who created the sites off the top of my head, but they're just great, great stuff.

I'm not sure it's fair to call "using the hard work of others" a time-saving trick, but for running any games with MapTool or Roll20, having a bunch of D&D oriented premade tokens (monsters & scores of pc/npc tokens) with a consistent feel is real handy.

How about over 6000 of them?  Toward the bottom of the thread there's a google drive link where you can browse them individually or download them all as a zip.

So, not entirely in the spirit of the OP, but it has saved me a bunch of time, especially for 0-level funnel games.

I have no problem using someone else's badass work. Thank you.:-)

Anyone mention Kobold Fight Club yet? I'm not that much taken with the minutiae of encounter building but it is undeniabily helpful.

I find invaluable 3x5 cards for NPCs where I note any distinctive or distinguishing characteristics or habits or tics or turns of phrase. Also their names, obviously, and any relationships to PCs or other NPCs. I use checks and x marks for positive and negative attitudes. I also note any secrets they might have and information they might provide. I find it useful to note their general or specific goals so I can roleplay them better. Like Carlos the merchant maybe wants to drive his competitors out of business and also wants to bed the goatherd's daughter. Whatever. If the PCs can help with either of those things, maybe he's more likely to give them equipment on credit or an installment plan. Stuff like that. Probably not new information or ideas, though.

Similar cards for locations.

It also helps keep things consistent.
