This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Q&A with WEG's Scott Palter

I recently interviewed Scott Palter via a list of questions. Scott was the force behind the original incarnation of West End Games back in the day. He is responsible for publishing the original Star Wars D6, Ghostbusters, Hercules/Xena RPG, Paranoia, etc. -- some amazing games. He was kind enough to oblige me. This should put a few rumors to rest.

It isn't loading for me - something up with the DNS.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Thanks. Reminds me of some great games and fun times and at the same time makes me sad for the demise of WEG.

Scott's a great guy, long time member of the Torg Mailing List. Talked with him a few times.

I'll definitely have to give this a read.

EDIT:

Value chart was by Greg Gorden who ALSO designed Mayfair's DC game. A lot of other concepts came over from DC, like Effect Value and Acting Value.

Tharkold was a Torg cosm, not a Masterbook worldbook.

Not any more - must have been a momentary glitch.

It's not everyone who can (or wants to) build logarithms into an RPG. Greg is a very clever man and he's done some great work. (Also a very fun GM.)

I've got a couple more Q&A's in the works. Hopefully, they'll be interested too. I just hope that Dan Davenport doesn't get jealous :) (just kidding, Dan).
