This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are any of you tired of running games?

Put another person up for zero interest in Pathfinder.

To be more on topic. I don't actually like being DM, but all the people in my old group wanted me to. Though I've been learning recently being under the thumb of a bad DM is so much worse than being forced to DM by your players
Quote from: Me;576460As much as this debacle of a thread has been an embarrassment for me personally (and it has ^_^\' ). I salute you mister unintelligible troll guy. You ran as far to the extreme as possible on the anti-3e thing and Benoist still defended you against my criticism. Good job.

I'd just not play. Playing the game should never be a "chore".

I'm just coming off a 2-month long break from my regular weekly gaming group due to some sort of gaming fatigue (that's playing as well as gming). We're starting up again tomorrow and I think the break will have done us al good. We will be starting something fresh too - I think that's important.

It wasn't a huge deal and I didn't have to DM all the time.

There is one guy from my old group in the new one and if I'm theere it's going to make a bad situation worse for him, if he leaves then I'm out as well. Anyway this level of failure can't go undocumented so writing Apparently Expeditious Retreat, Swift is broken takes the edge off things. So it's not like I'm having no fun period.

Playing pathfinder isn't a chore. Running it with PCs that constant have characters that go against theme, against just about everything...annoys me.

Otherwise...I'm okay.

It would annoy me as well and I wouldn't run with those people. I have a "thing" against metagaming in character and I am willing to walk away from any table where players actively refuse to play ball. If I'm running a game (and I warn people before I start) consistency is a must. If you're going to do something it has to be consistent with the character you made, the setting, etc. Inconsistency annoys the shit out of me.

Trust me it didn't quite start out that way, but it sure as hell has come to forefront a number of times.

I get DM Fatigue and Player Fatigue from time to time, the former more so than the latter.  Having another person take up the mantle of DM to run a one-shot or short arc is often a good idea when the current DM is out of ideas, needs to take a break, or doesn't have enough stuff prepared.
