I think this should bring everyone up to speed:
Quote from: MGuy;578350The fact that he consistently proves he does not know what he is talking about, the fact that he refuses to even concede when actual logic he should have learned in high school is thrown at him, or the people who nod their heads and encourage this kind of behavior.
Quote from: StormBringer;578438Premise#1: A Magic-User who can use any spell at any time is more powerful than a Fighter.
Premise#2: A Magic-User cannot use any spell at any time.
Conclusion: A Magic-User is not more powerful than a Fighter.
Refute away, O Masters of logic.
Quote from: Kaelik;578444Refuted. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denying_the_antecedent)
Seriously, how hilarious that even when you get to make up the premises, you still argue in fallacies.
Quote from: Panzerkraken;578445Goodness, and how convenient for you that he phrased it in exactly the usual pattern of that exact fallacy. It's almost as though he knew he was doing it.
:jaw-dropping:
Yeah, pretty bizarre rookie mistake right out of the gates, huh? ;)

Ah, good. You found someone to read these and explain them to you.
I guess the first step is to fix that one:
Premise#1: A Magic-User who can use any spell at any time is more powerful than a Fighter.
Premise#2: A Magic-User can use any spell at any time.
Conclusion: A Magic-User is more powerful than a Fighter.
Ok, Vulcan Science Council, have at it.
Quote from: deadDMwalking;578817But for your information, nobody here has presented Premise #1 as having any factual basis. It is clearly a false premise. It doesn't mean that your conclusion is wrong (in fact, your conclusion is correct) but this isn't really the place to discuss that.
Did that get some of the sand out of your vagina so we can continue?
Now, are you saying Premise #1 is false? A Magic-User/Wizard that can use any spell they want essentially at-will is not more powerful than a Fighter?
Typo. I meant #2.
Do you have a point? Or is this just going to go long enough to prove to everyone that you're a dumb ass and then the thread gets locked?
Oup. We've gone far enough to prove to everyone that you're a dumb ass. So I guess I don't mind if this thread gets locked.
That is a thinly veiled attempt to just go on with a shit-flinging match that's been locked before, and in fact has nothing to do with traditional RPGs.
Talk gaming and games, people.

I received a formal protest to this thread being locked, and I think that the complaint merited investigation and a response. However, upon review it seems to mostly be a recap and response to material from other threads, and I really don't think we need to be doing direct recaps here. The subject itself is not forbidden, but the way this thread was set up, I don't think it really needs re-opening.
