This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Monsieur Mallah & The Brain?

Uplifted animals, yes and mutants too.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Ninjas?

I know people usually think of ninjas as an 80s thing, but You Only Live Twice was published in the 60s.

Animated statues/graven images.

Mummies (raised by magic or technology/alchemy)

Scientific mistakes/accidents (Man slowly melting, and driven to kill by the pain. Man given the senses of a wolf...but also their bloodlust!)

Gadget villains ("No-one can stop Television Man!")
I'm a middle aged guy with a lot of free time, looking for similar, to form a group for regular gaming. You should be chill, non-woke, and have time on your hands.

How about a setting/location as the bad guy?  Peep the movie "Death Ship," (or hell, "Ghost Ship," works too) for an evil setting in action.

Not sure how one would "pulp it up," to avoid becoming just a murder-hole-one-shot for the PCs, but damned if I don't love those sort of movies.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

I'm scratching my head as to what this has to do with pulp.

Sure Pulp had rough justice, even anti-heroes, but the line between hero and outright villain was clear, and they had no sympathy for the villains.

Sure, but Pulp is broadly about heroes vs. _ and coming out on top after a few rounds.  Why couldn't a "haunted location," also count as a villain?  Granted, such a villain like this would only be useful once or twice at best before coming trite, but still I think it'd be a viable option.

Well, if someone finds a way to write that up they are free to use it, I've got plenty in my plate as it is. Maybe after I publish it I can have the time to think it up.

This is IMHO one of the defining characteristics of Pulp, together with larger than life heroes a black and white morality, protecting/avenging the innocent against all odds.

Loving this list.

I feel like pulp coincides somewhat with the Spiritualism movement or at least the tail end of it. So ghosts and poltergeist. Then there are religious movements that can spawn bad guys, like zombies (Voodoo/Hoodoo), golems (Judaism), demons (Christianity).

There is a lot of fiction around WW2 magical combatants that overlap with the pulp era. Soviet witches and psionicists, German necromancers, etc..

There's lots of stuff that could fit into a Pulp game, it all depends on what Pulp Genre you want to tackle. I'm trying for Indy + Quattermain + Spy Hunters + Detective with MAYBE some Mystery Men added for good measure. There's a different game I'm working on for Pulp Sword & Planet. That last one will be Flash Gordon + John Carter + Carson but with an original world/setting and afterwards others.

Ah OK, sorry I missed that. Sounds interesting!
