This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Publishers, Designers, heed my call!

I haven't actually seen Epic, but I've heard good things about it. The design goal is one I can respect as well ;)

Butch, I can't wait to see your generic stuff.

Rick Hershey

My name is Rick Hershey, I'm a freelance artists, I own and operate Empty Room Studios, created the Steampunk Musha setting for PIG, and do the art for the webcomic The Broken Mantle for Baeg Tobar.

As a freelance artist I've done work for dozens of companies from Green Ronin publishing, Mongoose Publishing, Bastion Press, and tons more. I currently have a series of clipart available for PIG's Publisher's Assistant series. You can check that out at //www.pigames.net

Empty Room Studios is doing many projects right now, we just recently started doing layout and design work and are pretty much booked till christmas with projects. We are also expanding into more comic work. You can check out all our staff artists, cartographers, colorists, and designers at our site and see a list of our services. //www.emptyroomstudios.com

Steampunk Musha was a long journey to see print, but very rewarding when I saw it in print. We currently have the core book available at PIG's site and our first adventure. At the moment I have 5 writers working on new material and a book of short stories being developed - all great stuff.

And my webcomic The Broken Mantle is doing very well over at //www.baegtobar.com. BT is a colaborative world setting where talented artists and writers work in prose, comics, etc. to create stories and content in the BT world. The project is headed by Empty Room Studios Art Director, Jeremy Mohler, and is a huge undertaking.

That's about it for now. . . thanks.

I wrote a little superhero game, 'Hearts & Souls', its high trust, quick and broad strokes supers gaming built around the idea that a heroes drive--the reason they are a hero--matters to success and failure.

A example of play is here

A great PC sheet is here (warning PDF)

And Matt's review is here

In addition to that I've got a setting, Tribes of Mother Night made for the F20 system by Chine Games--I'm currently revising it slowly to expand on it.

I have some setting bits in Cartoon Action Hour, and though only minor credit I wrote the original Kyrhee martial arts "magic" for Midway City. (most of which is still intact,  slight changes due to the core system being different but the descriptions of powers/how they work fundamentally were mine.)

In addition to that I'm working on a fantasy game, and a card based mecha game (Action Card Engine, inspired by Marvel Saga, but with its own quirks) with western themed mecha setting called Vast Frontiers, and a space opera game with vampires (yes, REAL vampires, not aliens, not humans with cybernetics, real supernatural vampires) because I think "Batboy" would be cool as the vicious and warped Pharoah of the Empire of Night--my inspiration is artwork from Mutant Chronicles, Wh40k, and the gritty clothing/ships of Star Wars shaken, warped and retwisted into my own black images of mausoleum like fleet ships carrying hordes of vampire pilots in blood-stasis, "hibernating" inside there spider like ships...

Some of my very rough artwork--mind you I will hire professionals but I do this for my own reference:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/27437234/ (Western mecha, and yes hats and scarves and panchoes exist for a reason ;) )

Zombie Trooper for Empire of Night

Carrier Ship (no real detail but my art does suck)
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/14821933

Black Legion Trooper
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/13923441

And one of the fighters.

Yeah yeah, not a professional artist..these are more "style sheets" than anything else, but gives you insight into how I design--quite often visually getting images in my head of how a world will look then start working on the game elements.

Cool, I saw your booth @ Gencon and stopped for a look @ the book. In the end I ran out of money, but the game looked interesting.

I co-wrote World Militaries for the 1st edition of Spycraft by AEG. I was also a consultant on the U.S. Militaries and Battlegrounds supplements for the same line.

My current aim is to get WotC to give me the licence to Top Secret and Top Secret/S.I. - only been trying for 6 years ;)
Formerly of UK Role Players. I still run Modus Operandi (espionage RPGs) and DnD5e.info (the 5th Edition SRD) and also blog (sometimes) at dave.mcalister.org.uk.

Good luck, I'd love to see a slightly modernized Top Secret/SI

Thanks. Personally, I'd just love to see the rules out there again. If I had my way they would have been the rules used for WotC's OGL!

The good thing about the Top Secret/S.I. rules is that they don't need much modernisation (sp?). Just a few tweaks here and there on the rules and equipment front and you're sorted.

I'm lucky. I have every Top Secret/S.I. (and almost every Top Secret) rulebook and supplement printed. But there are too many who don't :(

Well we ran into some problems with erratta and damage at one point.

It might also be nice to see ranged combat and hand to hand combat moved a bit more in line with each other (utilizing the same mechanic so that die roll of to hit determines base damage +X perhaps for ranged weapons rather than being completely additional random factor outside the to hit)--but that would need to be playtested.
