This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Donkeys in the Campaign

While traveling through a "lost world" jungle region, my party recently discovered donkeys could be sacrificed to aid them in evading ravenous dinosaurs. However, one of the donkeys also apparently realized that those two-legged idiots traveling with it could be sacrificed to aid it in evading ravenous dinosaurs. It was a comedy (except for the one player that got outsmarted by his ass).

They even work in a modern game!

Before my dad retired (utility construction), he met a guy that had the contract to do highly selective culling of old trees from a state forest.  No extra roads allowed.  The park rangers would go through and mark trees that needed to be removed for various reasons.  Some of them were worth a far amount of money if harvested timely, but were on the decline.  Selling them off helped pay for the guy to remove them and also supported a fair chunk of the cost of maintaining the forest.

He used mules.  Drug out 8-foot logs on game trails to the nearest public road.  Modern GPS, high-end chains saws, advanced materials for almost everything else--and mules.

Donkeys and mules are still used in a number of professions today. Until we develop donkey-like robots, there's still a need for them.
