Nah..I think you might have misread it...hell...it took me a reread to get it.

He's saying the people saying "there is no war" are the same people who act as a collective and denigrate other people's way of playing.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree as I'd have to see some hard evidence shown in the form of pick-a-person/show-them-saying-theres-no-war/show-them-denigrating.

I get the sense it wouldn't be that hard to do for someone with as much history in this as AM or Sett or Pundy.

Second, I believe he used the word "almost."  I'm the one who inadvertantly left that portion out.

Third, I've seen you denigrate lots of people - dont sell yourself short!

Your whole post here was very well put, Maw.  But this in particular I wanted to touch on. You'll note that Tony always dodged my whole "if you really claim to be in the middle why are you calling me on my shit in my forum, but not doing the same to Ron Edwards on his forum?" angle.

Of course, the irony is that even if Tony had any inclination to do so, he wouldn't be able to. Because over there, he'd just get banned or censored.

Are there? You may really want to delineate them for us in that case, because I haven't seen that at all. I've seen a couple of individual guys (yourself included) trying to distance themselves from the Forge-think.  And I've seen a couple of "pods" of the Forge spring up (Storygames being the most obvious) but no evidence that they in any way disavow themselves of GNS or Ron Edwards, or even Brain Damage in any official way.

In fact, the only "indie" group that is really distinct is the group of "Indie" publishers who frequent here (the grandaddy of them all Erick Wujcik; and the "new guys": Clash, the PIG people, GMS, even Hinterwelt who I know has some issues with me). They've gone to great lengths to make it clear they have NOTHING to do with Edwards' "Indie Revolution".  To the point that I'm  just waiting for the moment where he explains how they're not really "indie" for some reason.
And you'll note that they don't get flack for being Swine, because they aren't.

You'll note too that Hinterwelt and I have had some serious issues, but I don't lump him in with the Forge or even think of him as a Swine... so much for that whole "RPGPundit thinks anyone that disagrees with him is Swine" thing.

Given that you're the guy who claims anyone who plays D20 is just deluding themselves, since D20 doesn't really exist and is really just D&D badly fitted (dare I say "broken") to try to fit other genres? Yes.

Another FACT:

Frank T., the German leader of the Forgers, who organized and sold and evangelized for years, he quit the Forge.
He will not do anything for them anymore.
He´ll promote his game with another Publisher.

He made a big announcement, that he doesn´t want to be associated with the Forge anymore.

Any details why he said that, Sett?

Here is the condensed version of his relevant resolutions:

1) He will not promote Forge-Games anymore, and will not actively spread Forge-Theory. He will answer questions, but he´ll explain and not vindicate them.

2) He´ll try out fewer new games, which sound so ultra cool on paper. He´ll concentrate on playing more of the same game with people he likes, instead of hunting for that new shiney game of the month.

He´s happy, that the German Forger booth at Essen will not come to be in 2007, so he has energy to fully concentrate on his own fun and his own game.
