This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

In Episode 48 of the Animalcast, the guys get to the bottom of the controversy stirred up in Episode 47.  Specifically, they get the real answer as to the similarities between Father Llymic in WotC's Elder Evil's supplemental book and Kyle's project, Gemini's Glade.  It turns out it was a case of parallel development.  In this indepth interview, the guys talk with Jason Bulmahn, who authored the Father Llymic portion of Elder Evils.  Kyle offers a full apology and retraction to both Jason and Robert Schwalb.  The guys then talk to Jason about his work on the Pathfinder RPG rules for Paizo with Monte Cook as a consultant.  Jason talks about what it's like working with Monte, how good Monte smells and answers the burning question Kyle has been trying to get an answer to- does Monte ever ask about him?  Jason also talks about working at Paizo, and they conclude the episode with a few choice words Kyle has for Nick Logue at Sinister Adventures.  Jason predicts Kyle will be issuing a retraction and apology to Nick Logue in the near future.

World Adventure Writing Month 2008 is here!  Check out the website at //www.woadwrimo.org to participate.

Worldwide Adventure Writing Month is a grassroots effort to motivate RPG fans to spend one month (July) writing a new adventure to share with the rest of RPG fandom.  '07 was our first year and we got some great adventures to share with you, thanks to the efforts of Jay Hafner, Peter Seckler, Phil Winters, Gabor Lux, and Bobby Derie.

Whether you've never written an adventure before or have a hundred modules under your belt, why not join our effort to expand the pool of free stuff that GMs can use?  WoAdWriMo doesn't require you to sign up and there are no crazy rules you have to follow.  This website exists to cheer you on, to host your completed adventure if you want us to, and to help out in any way we can.  Hit a snag in your adventure design?  Got some writer's block?  Want to share a cool bit you've come up with?  Then swing by our forum and join the conversation!

But keep in mind WoAdWriMo isn't this blog or this site or the forum.  And as your WoAdWriMo coordinator this month isn't about me.  The website exists as a service to the real heart and soul of Worldwide Adventuring Month, and that's you.  WoAdWriMo is about regular gamers having fun working on a challenging but not impossible task and then sharing their results.  Please join us.  Take the challenge to write and complete adventure in the month of July.

In Episode 52 of the Animalcast, the guys introduce their new Gamer Girl correspondent who is going to start providing game reviews for the podcast.  Kyle also announces that July is World Adventure Writing Month, and advises everyone to visit Jeff Rient's website and participate.  The guys then conclude their discussion of online RPG gaming, including their experiences with WebRPG, GRiP, IRC gaming and unabashed speculation on Gleemax.  In an extended divergence from the main topic, the guys also talk for a bit about D&D 4.0.

At long last, the book many have been waiting for is finally available and just in time for Tricky Owlbear's 1st anniversary!  Behind the Spells: Compendium presents the first 36 issues of the Behind the Spells series along with brand new content and behind-the-scenes comments by the author!

As always, for each spell you get a history of the creator, at least two "spell secrets" (new rules for using the spell), and "related research" (new material which somehow relates to the spell or its creator).  Whether you're a player or a GM, there's wealth of v3.5/OGL information in these pages just waiting to be unleashed at the game table.

Why buy books packed with new spells when there is still so much that can be done with the classics?  Get back to basics with Behind the Spells Compendium!

As of this day, this title is only available as a pdf at RPGNow,  YourGamesNow and Paizo.com.  But within the next week, you'll be able to purchase a print copy through Lulu.com (softcover and hardcover)!  Watch for that announcement soon.

Retail price for the pdf is $15 but in honor of our anniversary, we're offering it at 20% off (or $12) for the next week.  Thanks to everyone for your support of the series over the last 3 years!

Hello,

Just wanted to let those out there that are looking for some cool "old school" RPG art along with character portraits at very reasonable prices know that we just got a site up and running that caters to just that....cool "old school" RPG art. If you have an idea for a piece of art, we can do it! Have a gaming party that has to be seen? We can do it! Have a memorable encounter during a campaign? With a good description, we can put it on paper or JPEG file for you! Take a look if you get a chance. Thanks!

Sample of my work:

The site is: //www.threeheadedtroll.com and there are two other talented artists there as well. Thanks again!

Mythmere

I guess this is the right thread for this:

Mythmere Games is pleased to announce the release of Knockspell #1 (Winter, 2009). Knockspell magazine is the magazine of fantasy retro-clone gaming, and the content is all compatible with OSRIC, Labyrinth Lord, 0e, 1e, and of course with Swords & Wizardry! The magazine's content includes:
Cover artwork by Pete Mullen
Who Sucked the Fun Out of RPGing?, by Tim Kask
Death Magic & Dark Dealings, a Necromancer NPC for OSRIC by Scot "Kellri" Hoover
Three Principles of Adventuring Success by James C. "Semaj" Boney
Isles on an Emerald Sea, an adventure by Gabor Lux
Charnel Crypt of the Sightless Serpent, an adventure by Jeff Talanian
--and much more--

The pdf is currently available at lulu.com for $3, HERE

The print edition is not yet released; I have to set it up slightly differently from the pdf, and that's not complete yet.

Enjoy!

dementia5

But THIS one does publishing:

//www.dementia5.com

a slightly less typical approach to RPG gaming, with a more historical bent to it (Medieval, Gaelic, Gothic, Victorian...)

The "shop" isn't open yet, but the downloads are good and the message forum is picking up pace after only a few days:

//www.dementia5.com/community

lots to poke around so have a look, feel free to register, we hope you like it.

And thanks...

Cheers,
