This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

4th edition is coming!

Yes, seeing how that thread's title doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know.  ;)

Yeah, the title is a little vague for the biggest news of the year. Now Warthur had the right idea with the all caps. :D

I've been predicting 2008 for years.

8-10 is about right in today's Market and D&D has traditionally had a 10 year edition cycle anyway.

However, since 10 years is leaving money on the table (imo), I went with 8 years.

I believe that their original plan was for a new version every 5 years- 3.5 in 2005 and 4e in 2010.  But that was screwed up by the Hasbro buyout and they were hurried to push out 3.5 early in 2003 but 4e kept to the 5 year plan.
