This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How I would do [Whatever] the RPG

Quote from: stu2000Every kids' show between say--69 and 76--had some kind of musical variation. Rock & Roll teens who drive around and solve mysteries and stuff. It would be interesting to devise a mechanic for this, using an Ipod Shuffle. Instead of a dice pool, you get a number of chances to hit a song that illustrates, or appropriately accompanies, what you want to do in game. :)
thats kind of an interesting idea. :)

You hit Hair of the Dog, or Warrior, and you kick ass. You hit Rescue Me, and reinforcements arrive. You hit the theme from Airwolf . . .
Well--I don't have to describe that, do I?
Employment Counselor: So what do you like to do outside of work?
Oblivious Gamer: I like to play games: wargames, role-playing games.
EC: My cousin killed himself because of role-playing games.
OG: Jesus, what was he playing? Rifts?

Wendy O'Williams has intiative with three dice in Fuckadillly.
Foregoing dice, Wendy's player trusts her kickass Shuffle list to get her through. 1, disco version of Beethoven's Fifth, no. 2, Ride of the Valkyries, pretty good.

Go with that?

Yes.

Wendy O'Willians tears into Adam Ant, throwing him across the mall in a explosion of debris and glittered eyeliner . . .

Mark Mothersbaugh retaliates with two dice in So What; Big Deal
1, I Can't Stand The Rain, I'll take that

The mall sprinklers kick on, dowsing Wendy's fiery attack, steam rising from her clenched fists . . .

If you go to Gencon in 2008 - we could wait a year.
Be worth to see you playing. Hell, between you and me there might be too many puns and pop culture references.

Oh yeah "Jerk " in Klingon? Think you you just say "Feddie" or toupee-boy.

Sorry, big fella. No Gen Con this year. I hope to get there before the end of the Mayan calendar, though. And Con on the Cob is over your way, isn't it? I want to participate in their Gathering of Savages, and my son wants to do the Guitar Hero Eternal Jamnantion.

If I wind up writing up the I-SHARP (Ipod Shuffle High Adventure Role-Playing) rules, I'll send them with my buddy Rob. He'll be up there with GAMA. I'll tell him to say hi.

Now.
If I could somehow license the works of Joe R Lansdale, I would develop them for Unknown Armies and distribute them through carnivals, hidden in ring-toss prize stuffed animals, in a plastic baggie with a severed finger.

Quote from: One Horse TownGormenghast

Grotesque Dickensian characters laying labyrinthine plots within the endless castle.

Random castle feature generation. Gallery of the grotesque (a vast array of NPCs that can be met). Wanderers of the stone cathedral (travelling within the castle). Birds.
This...this is a game waiting to be made.  A potentially endless line of setting supplements are just new wings to the castle.  It's a dungeon-crawl that never ends.
