Here you are (http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/p/paizoPublishingLLC/pathfinder/pathfinderRPG/v5748btpy84o0). Sorry, but I didn't see this posted elsewhere. That's 400+ pages!
EDIT: I read that Pathfinder Beta's exact time to sell out at Gen Con was 9 hours, 8 minutes. Wow.
Anyone else have the problem of odd-numbered pages not displaying properly? I got both version of the PDF(the one that's a single file, and the one that separates the chapters into individual files), and both of them were missing all of the text and most of the art on odd-numbered pages. It was weird, and customer service told me to do the obvious(use the most current version of the PDF reader software), which didn't fix anything.
I downloaded only the fully assembled file, and it looks fine. You know, though, I had a problem similar to yours with one of the earliest Alpha files. I somehow figured that something had gone wrong with the download. My solution: Download the file again. Result: Properly displaying file.
By the way, Pathfinder is looking really, really sweet. As far as class/level games go, me likey muchly.
!i!
Just did it, and nope -- didn't fix anything. I have no idea what's wrong, but out of the hundreds of PDFs I have, Pathfinder's the only one to go gonzo like this, so I have no idea what's wrong.
It's cool that it's still free. What's changed since Alpha?

Indeed. My next D&D game will pretty much have to be with these rules.

If I recall, Alpha was about 110 pages, more of an overview. Beta is 400+ pages, so it's more or less the full product, minus the revisions from beta testing that will end up in the final version.

Yeah. Alpha was basically the core rules and concepts, plus enough to get you up and going for a playtest. This is the whole package.

They kept the name "Combat Feats" as a replacement for "Fighter Bonus Feats", but got rid of the "Only one Combat Feat active at a time." stuff. Consequently many of the Combat Feats which had been increased in power have been reset -- For example, Mobility in Alpha made one immune to AoOs, in Beta it goes back to giving a +4 AC bonus vs AoO as per the SRD. Many general feats are now Combat Feats, as Combat Feat is synonymous with Fighter Bonus Feat now.
There are a lot of small changes to the new combat feats added in Alpha, too many to list. Here are some of the more important (IMO) changes:
Weapon Finesse no longer requires you to have +1 BAB. Rogues can now take it at 1st level, making many builds work from first level rather than having to wait til 3rd level. :emot-rock:
Improved Shield Bash is back, and does not require Two Weapon Fighting or a 15 DEX, so many older Sword & Board builds are viable again, including my own character Carmen. :emot-rock:
Arcane Strike Feat added progressively better bonus based on caster level (1+1/5 levels), rather than a flat +1 bonus, and requires a swift action to activate. This makes the feat actually moderately useful.
Arcane Armor Training now requires a swift action to activate, and reduces the spell failure chance by 10%.
Skill Focus gives a +3 until you have 10 ranks, then it gives a +6. All of the two-skill bump feats (Alertness, Persuasive, Stealthy, etc.) now give +2/+2 until you have 10 ranks, then give +4/+4.
Alertness now boosts Perception and Sense Motive rather than Perception and Appraise. This is way more sensible.
Feats Added:
- Extra Ki
- Extra Lay On Hands
- Extra Rage
Feats Removed:
- Deft Shield
- Exact Targeting
Bonded Arcane items can no longer be enchanted for half price.
Characters that take their race's favored class get their choice of either +1 HP or +1 Skill Ranks each time they advance a level in that favored class.
Sorcerer Arcane Bloodline levels stack with any wizard levels when determining the powers of familiars or bonded objects.
Sorcerers and Bards may now benefit from Quicken Spell.
To be honest, if I were to run a 3.x game, I'd rather use a mashup of Arcana Unearthed and Iron Heroes. I find each more mechanically innovative and interesting than the core, or various do-over core books.

I'm a Conan: Atlantean Edition kinda guy, but I do dig Iron Heroes as well. But Conan is my D&D 3.x game of choice, though I'm downloading Pathfinder as well, since it looks like a pretty solid game. Plus I totally support what they're doing.

Side note: What the fuck is up with the Elf on page 8? Look at these friggin' ears! It looks like the lame World of Warcraft fan art you see on DeviantArt.com. I really hate, and I mean HATE the effect manga/anime has had on RPG art. Fuckin' Elf looks retarded with those ears...
Yea, that's all. Just a minor rant. I'll be staring at my Angus McBride M.E.R.P. covers and longing for fantasy art's better days if anyone needs me.
EDIT: After this I saw the stupid Barbarian art and promptly deleted the file. Maybe the system is good. And I still repect the fact that they're continuing the 3.x line. But fuck the art. Seriously. Last time I saw a sword that stupid looking was Final Fantasy VII.

And thank goodness for that. What an ill conceived idea. A tracking headache and gamefun cockblock to boot (what do you mean I can't use my furious leap and awesome strike in the same round?)
I saw the beta and was
oh so tempted to pick it up, but I knew I wouldn't use it for a while, so the PDF will do for now.

I've barely glanced at the beginning. No argument on the stupidity of those pics - huge swords are a peeve of mine. But I'm still going to give it a read through. I guess my long exposure to rpg books has deadened my outrage against bad art.
Yea, I'm usually deadened to bad art myself, but there's one exception: ridiculous anime art in non-anime RPGs. By ridiculous I mean stupidly giant swords and Elves with retardedly long ears. Talk about peripheral poxes on our hobby... anime.

First off, I agree with you on the anime/CRPG-infulenced art -- it does nothing for me and looks ridiculous in my eyes. Not all of the art is as absurd as those ears and that sword, though. The pictures of the cleric and the monk are great.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, my son
loves the art in
Patfinder. At age 9, he's arguably the future of RPGs, so the fact that the art is appealing to him instead of a crusty old oncewas like me is a plus for the game.
As with so many things in life, you take the good with the bad.

Fuck all a y'all. That Elf Rogue iconic is the coolest elf I ever saw in an RPG. All alien and shit, with creepy eyes that remind me of greys . . .
Fuckin' bitchass fantasy clones should be killing for elves that cool.

Different from the one on p.8. I agree, though, the Elf Rogue is supa-spooky. The Gnome Druid puts an interesting and creepy spin on gnomes, too.

I think the original idea was based on the concept of Stances from
Book of Nine Swords, and in some ways it made sense. Not being able to use Combat Expertise and Power Attack in the same attack combo makes a certain amount of sense. It also simplifies certain tracking issues: instead of tryingt o remember which of my twelve feats applies, I just have to remember what the feat I'm using now does.
But I'm on the fence. I see value in both ways of doing it.
Unrelated, I just got the Beta in the mail today.
It's really nice. Really, really nice.

They promise they'll have new art for the final, and that piece will be redone. The elf in particular annoys a lot of people. But the long ears are there to stay. Also, fuck you and your "manga" bullshit. You ever read
ElfQuest? HUGE POINTY EARS. NOT MANGA. How about
Poison Elves? HUGE POINTY EARS. NOT MANGA. Seen the movie
Wizards? HUGE POINTY EARS. NOT ANIME. The fucking Japanese did not invent huge pointy ears on elves, AMERICAN FANTASY ILLUSTRATORS DID IN THE 70'S. They copied US.
God that gets on my nerves.

If this is true, and not hyperbole, then you're a moron. Seriously. A MORON. One
picture you don'tlike, so therefore the
whole game is ruined for you? What kind of fucking infantile bullshit is that? I've NEVER played a game where I universally liked every piece of art. You just ignore the art you don't like, and find inspiration in the art you do like.
Seriously man, cut off your nose to spite your face much?
That's an awesome example of what an incredibly wealthy world of gaming we live in, that we can afford to discard a game simply because of a single illustration.

I printed it out so I could wipe myself with that particular page, and light my cigar with the spells chapter.
Y'know, I'm not a fan of Lejenta (or whatever the f***) style elves, either. But seriously... I think that's being just a LEETLE neurotic over the art.
I'm an old guy, and i like all that crazy new art, especially the big swords and the occasional super labia. Bad art to me is art that is poorly executed, not art that doesn't fit my exact sensibilities.
That said, whenever you invoke Wizards to support an argument, you are automatically wrong.

Quite a few, as long as it's your metaphorical nose.
