This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Pathfinder: I'm Taking The Plunge

OK, after reading and digesting some of the earlier issues, I think I'm ready to subscribe to Pathfinder (as opposed to picking up issues piecemeal).  How long I stick with it will likely depend on their final (and my final) decision on 4e, but as long as they're doing the quality, free True20 conversion support for features like "Rise of the Runelords", I'm on board.  13.99 a month for a 96-page softcover supplement isn't too bad, and is a nice discount.  Sure, that'll be most of my gaming budget for the month, but, hey, there you go. :)

Anyone else look at or interested in Pathfinder?

I think Bratsky is running it and writing about it on the Animallball forums.

As mentioned in this thread's clone over on RPGnet, I'm currently a subscriber and while I didn't dig the inspirations of the earlier adventures, I like the later adventures and the creature work they have been doing, especially how they plug into great third party D20 products that until now has been entirely my own purview to insert into my game.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

King of Old School

I've been very happy with all of the Pathfinder volumes so far, but then I've always dug Paizo's take on D&D.

I've got the first two and they're solid. If I needed more adventure material, I'd get the rest.

I running it with my kids and I absolutely love it.  I'm too lazy to link or repeat what I've already said, but there's a few threads in animalball's RPG section of the forums, and Mike and I talk about it at length in the episode of our podcast which will be released tomorrow morning.

Bitchin'.  You'll forgive me:  I'm a few episodes behind, since lawnmowing season ended (podcasts are how I keep myself entertained during yardwork). :D

You'll really like it, Zach.  I think it's better than the stuff they were writing as Dungeon Magazine.  I'm super impressed, and unlike an earlier poster stated, I actually like the first two editions the best.  My kids are about 2/3 of the way through the first edition and they freaking love it.

Thanks for the tip, bud.  I'm looking forward to filling in the gaps and pressing on with it.

I think, in general, Paizo just does solid, quality work on most of their products. Between that and the GameMastery line (love my item cards!), they're getting a good amount of my (very) limited gaming budget.

If you haven't gotten the critical hit deck... I highly recommend it.

3 people in my regular gaming group have it, but since we're playing Rolemaster right now...well... :p
