This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

(Palladium) So I’m trying this podcasting thing…

So I thought I'd give podcasting a shot—I've been a co-host on shows before, but it's been awhile. I figured I'd start with something I know—namely Rifts, Palladium Fantasy and Palladium Books. So I recorded a pocast episode.

It's called Radio Free Palladium, and we'll see how it does. I plan to cover Palladium News, plus 1-2 topics on Rifts, Palladium Fantasy, Heroes Unlimited, or the Megaversal System and Game Mastering in general. I thought I'd mention it here, since we have some Palladium fans on the board.

I kept it pretty plain (and short: just under 30 minutes) for the first episode, because I'm not too sure what the reception will be, what changes I'll make, or how much people will get out of it. But, if you'd like to listen, here's the links to Radio Free Palladium below:

I listened to it and enjoyed it. I'm not a Palladium person but a lot of what you had to say had relevance to roleplaying in general.

I think 30 minutes is too long. TED has a good system with 17 minutes and I would argue that a well edited 10 minutes beats them all.

Short, tight and to the point.

Also, is podcasting still a thing? I thought all that moved to YouTube.

Many thanks! I grew up on Palladium, so a lot of my RP advice has its roots in my experiences therein. It all sort of comes full circle.

Yeah, I think it's still a thing. I think they're still used while working out, commuting, or at work. I could be wrong--I'm never on the cutting edge. :)

I'm surveying what folks want on time. Some want 15 minutes, some want 90. I'll have to gauge how it is going, and adjust from there...

I generally like longer podcasts. Usually I'm listening to them while I do other stuff... work, play video games, draw, cook or do house stuff. 15 minutes would be too short, IMO.

I'm sort of in the same boat myself. The main times I listen to podcasts are when I'm doing yard work, driving to work, or working on a project at work.

It was a good podcast, and that is coming from someone who doesn't really like many of the podcasts he has heard.

I listened to this and enjoyed it.

As far as nostalgia factor goes, it did remind me of combats with multiple NPCs that took forever, but also reminded me of good times I had in the early 90s with Rifts as a whole.

I'll definitely listen in the future and thought the half an hour length was great.
