So,  Yesterday I bought FREEPORT nthat setting book published by Green Ronin at work.

Got To thinking - I have almost ALL of the PAIZO maps or big map pieces that they have done in the past 2 years.

Would it be possible to turn all those into one coherent connected town or even a region?

There are Fortress walls, At least four different Inns/Taverns, a town marketplace or square. Several stores and small what-could be homes,  3 or 4campsites, a graveyard, chapel, tounament grounds,....etc

 What does everyone else think???

That would probably a nice little project (the paizo world setting :p  ), how close do the art styles match up across the 2 years?

They just came out with a new one called "MountainPass" - it looks like a guarded path way high up in the mountains with a tower on either side of the path as an entryway.

I may post all the maps and map parts they've done so far - could be a whole town that might be pieced togethewr at this point.

I don't have these Ed - are they generic? Just Maps?

If you piece them together, or post them, or whatever, I promise I'll try to find a place for them to reside in the World of Dunfalcon.

They ARE generic aand are done in a 1 grid square = 1 inch format compatible with d20 /3.5/OGL games and game products. (and yeah I've used a few of them with GURPS campaign)

IF  I do this right, here are some examples from this website page  :

http://paizo.com/store/gameAids/gamingMats/steelSqwire

A city Market.......

A Mountain Pass ......

A ship, usable as a possible pirate ship or freighter in a D&D/Sword & sorcery type game .......

A tavern.......

Woodlands setting.......

Got thje idea ??
I've used one of the smaller taverns from these map packs in my GURPS:BANESTORM mini-campaign.

The Map Packs -

The one I got the Tavern from :

Now Its not that I'm trying to run an ad or promo for these guys - but ever since these products started coming througfh the store I've thought of them as some of the most gorgeous and useful items for ANY roleplaying game.

If any of you guys order online from them ...it would be amusing if you told them you head about them from a GURPS-playing Klingon in Ohio....

Do you use them for tactical things? If so what do you do about hex's vs squares?

Dar, somewhere on the SJG forums, Kromm already answered that.
It might be a stickied thread by now - its not that difficult to do GURPS combat using squares ...technically its still the same scale so the same rules should apply.

Yea, I've hand waved squares before. Mainly I was curious about the details. If you have that link I'd be gratefull.

This thread talks about what you asked :

Also this one, might be more to the point:

This post:

...and this post seem especially helpful:

QuoteThe square layout is along the lines shown above:

......F3 F3 F3
...F3 F2 F2 F2 F3
F3 F2 F1 F1 F1 F2 F3
S3 S2 S1 XX S1 S2 S3
S3 S2 S1 B1 S1 S2 S3
...S3 B2 B2 B2 S3
......B3 B3 B3
In general the rule terminology Hex = Square. Especially for Step And... maneuvers.
It costs 0.5 Movement point for each 45 deg. turn.
It costs 1 Movement point for each 90 deg. turn.
It costs 1 Movement point to move forward on the orthogonal.
It costs 1.5 Movement points to move forward on the diagonal.
Sidestepping forward/backward costs 2 Movement points. Sidestepping to the side costs 2 Movement points. These numbers are relative to the hex numbers where sidestepping costs 1 less facing change to reach the point of destination.
Stepping backward costs 2 Movement points.
Weapon ranges and Area affect spells use the configuration above (see numbers).
Range weapons and such things as Knockback count distances as 1 yard per orthogonal count and 1.5 yard per diagonal count - round up the total to the nearest whole number.

Hope that helps....
