This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: CRKrueger;943223Actually that's 16 pages less than Pathfinder.  They put the Player's Handbook and GM's Guide in one book.

I'm not a big fan of Pathfinder because it just seems to encourage 3.5e bloat. That said, it is highly likely that when this is released I will be taking a little trip to my FLGS.

Yeah, and I can kill a man with that book.  I don't need two.

I agree with the bloat, it's a bit too much for me, especially seeing as I'm still burnt out on 3.x

I'm cautiously optimistic about it.  I liked Dragonstar an awful lot.  I figure I'll at least get the core book (I have an in who can get me a 30% discount on it), and base my further purchases off my impressions of that.

Voros

I never got into Pathfinder as I lost interest around 3.0 and had even less interest in a knock off but I was always fond of the gonzo nature of Spelljammer and the core setting material was solid.

I loved Dragon Star, until I saw that they didn't go far enough.  It was more or less Spelljammer lite.  No rules on firearms of any sort (there was a decent third party supplement called Arsenal, which added things like Fireball SMGs and Magic Missile firing assault weapons for 3.x, with balancing changes of course) nothing on 'computers' or artificial intelligence using D&D magic (Another 3rd party supplement by the same guys who did Arsenal did on called Factory, I think, which added more science fantasy bits, this one was more miss than hit.)

I've wanted a Pathfinder version of Dragonstar since Pathfinder was released. I've already pre-ordered a copy.

Quote from: One Horse Town;943113Unless it's all-inclusive, i kinda agree. Knowing Paizo, this will be anything but all-inclusive.

Well, it's Paizo, so it's definitely going to be inclusive.

Oh, and they'll make sure to virtue-signal on all the required boxes, the entire LGBTQUNPWTFBBQ spectrum in iconics, npcs, how-to-roleplay blurbs, etc, etc.

With girl pronouns, too!

I was making a joke.

So there's not a huge amount of info at this point, but it looks more like Star Wars than Spelljammer. Star Wars with orcs and elves and magic spells.

I'm mildly interested. There might be some good stuff to mine for ideas, at least.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

The nice thing is a lot of material from d20 Star Wars/RCR and d20 Future could be imported with little to no modification.

Let's hope WotC launches 5e Star Frontiers as a response. It's got the nostalgia angle and it hasn't been officially revived since its early days.

Fanboys won't care about the mechanic. It's Paizo, with Paizo art inside.
