Campaign settings are like Lego sets to build something, with instructions. Sure, I could build the spaceship. Or....

... I could build a giant freaking robot with a equally stupendous giant laser cannon for a... head. :D

This idiot obsession the idpol crowd has is indicative of their magical thinking. Ever heard of 'deodands'? 1E OA is a deodand for them, just like firearms.
