This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

One RPG you've never played, but you'd like to?

Not an RPG, but a setting.

I /really/ want to play Dark Sun. The main thing preventing me from running it is the fact I'm not particularly familiar with any of the systems it is designed for as well as the fact I'm not sure if the systems would really work.

Multiclassing (which is important in Dark Sun) is kinda clunky, so there's that.
And then there's the fact it used one of several psionics systems, most of which were utter garbage.

Eh, I thought the 2nd Edition Psionics fit well. But still, there needs to be work.

Not a fan of how 3.5 did it. It's just reskinned magic there.
I am not X/Y/Z race. I am a mutant. Based and mutantpilled, if you will.

2) Warhammer Fantasy - This may never happen. It suffers from Jan Brady Syndrome

Jan Brady Syndrome?

It's of interest - but not as interesting as other games that take more priority for me personally, and not shiny and new enough to attract the attention of my players to push to play it, raising it's priority for the group.

I was desperately hoping that Jan Brady Syndrome referred to an episode I'd somehow missed.  Something along the lines of, "In this week's episode, Peter adopts a Humphrey Bogart accent to comment on pork chops and applesauce, while Jan becomes a Khorne cultist in an attempt to garner attention."
I know how the illegals feel. I'm an alcoholic & they keep setting up these random DUI checkpoints. You have no idea what a chilling effect this has had on the alcoholic community. I know people who are too terrified to even drink & drive anymore. I am literally shaking... mostly in my hands...

Old School? Back in my day we just called it "School."

Man i really would like to play Runequest 2e instead of running it once in a while.

And she realizes that the "Hotdog in the Flashlight" trick isn't what she thought it was...

Man, I love where this thread is going.

My friend, when one sets out on the open road to seek adventure, surprises wait around every bend.  Some of 'em maybe shaped like Jan Brady.

To try to get back on topic:  FGU's Aftermath! and Bushido.  Both games have great things about them (especially Bushido) but they always struck me as far too unnecessarily complicated.  I've plundered them both relentlessly for ideas, though, and don't regret buying them or the supplements for them.  I'd love to play in a campaign for either, provided someone else did the heavy lifting by GM'ing the games.

I'm cheating and I'm going to mention a few...

Star Adventurer
Lancer
The One Ring
Weapons of the Gods/Art of Wuxia
The Witcher rpg
Ascendant
Werewolf: the Apocalypse
Mutant Year Zero
Runequest

Basically I'm sick to fuck of D&D and all of its retroclones.

Akakios

Also cheating a bit with multiple games
OSRIC
OSE
Low Fantasy Gaming (I have run the game before multiple times, but have never had the opportunity to be a player)

I'll second this.

Thorn Drumheller

For me, since I love fantasy rpgs. I want to try Dungeon Fantasy, powered by GURPS. Not the Dungeon Fantasy Club line of 'smut' novels that has shown up in my ebay search queue....thank you very much :D

I really need to give Savage Worlds and the HERO System a try, after all the stuff I've picked up for them. :)
