This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So what do you think would happen to your RPG collection if you died?

A bit severe, and very morbid. But given the age of my children at the moment, my RPG collection would either be thrown away, sold on ebay or dribbled and drawn all over.

But what would you like to happen to your collection in the event of your death, or would you want your children to inherit it? I mean as a kid I used to trawl through my parents Vinyl music collection which led to my musical tastes. Do I think/want my children to suddenly discover the black and white drawings of Rule Cyclopedia too tempting to not want to colour in and one day actually read them?

I'm more worried about what'll happen to my porn collection.

Bill Hicks did a whole skit on his mum finding his porn collection...

Yeah, I had that in mind actually.

"Oh, there's Bill's little boyscout uniform.  Look at him...how sweet... my poor Bill.  What's in this box?"

Lawbag

"Rear-Entry - volume 1 to 40. On that day, there'd be 2 funerals."

Since it's unlikely that I could take them with me, the games would probably end up in my father's basement.

I`m not falling for the illusion that my offspring would actually appreciate my collection, or that it will be worth any money by then.
All I`m asking is: keep it together. Put it in a box and let them books rest in peace next to each other. They need each other.

House Books for Battletech! They would cry themselves to sleep if the other four weren`t around. They belong to each other, don`t split em up!

I'd really like for it to go somewhere it might be catalogued and preserved as a chapter in popular culture.

Maybe a Smithsonian exhibit on gaming. That would be nice. Of course, my wife said that she's going to cremate me with my first ed. AD&D books, so someone else will have to supply those.

Mystery Man

My wife would probably keep them somewhere as a memento to me.

Yeah right...

My son Klaxon is my co-author on Book of Jalan, Papageniopolis Station, and Sweet Chariot. I'm sure my games will be well taken care of. :D

You named your son Klaxon?  Well I suppose if your name's Clash then there's a kind of "loud noise" dynastic naming policy thing going on :)

"Who's that Daddy?"
"That's your great... great grandfather Boom-Boom Bowley"

You heard of him? :O

:D

Actually Klaxon is his nickname, like clash is mine. I've been clash since I was 9. It's a long story, and tedious to relate...
