Mass Combat rules for Labyrinth Lord

Hey all,
I've been running a LL game for some time now and even though the party is at an average level of 4ish, I've been wanting to flesh out the greater campaign area with events that happen regardless of the party having anything to do with them.
I have a player who's really more of a war/board gamer and I'd like to invite him to pay in a few mass combat games that decide certain events in the campaign world.
I know D&D has a few mass combat rules, I'm interested in finding a rule set that might be able to best represent my chosen FRPG rule set on a larger scale.  By this I don't mean it has to be completely compatible with LL just something that isn't so far divorced from D&D-alikes to be usable without hours on converting.

Any ideas? Or is there something very obvious I am overlooking in my flumph-mindset.

I guess i'm leaning towards mass battles without individual miniatures, our miniature pool is small!

Smaller counters representing larger units is the way to go for me I feel.

5th edition released a free set of mass battle rules that you could look at.  Looks like it uses a grid, but you could probably use whatever you had on hand to represent units.  

Astonishing Swordsmen and Sorcerors of Hyperborea had a mass battle system in it as well.

I use Delta's Book Of war which is lightweight and gives results that are D&D scaled up. I use counters instead of miniatures and incorporate characters into the battle.

ACKS Domains At War: Battles has you covered if you're strictly looking for a mass combat system. It is fairly crunchy, and can be played as a stand-alone hex-and-chit wargame.

It's designed for ACKS, itself a B/X (and LL) variant fine-tuned for high-level antics like running fiefs and building kingdoms and breeding monsters and stuff. But the Battles supplement, which deals with the actual mass combat system, should integrate seamlessly with just about any edition of TSR D&D (and maybe even the WotC ones too).

Campaigns, which deals with the nitty-gritty of raising and managing armies, works off of ACKS' uniquely consistent modeling of pre-industrial fantasy economics.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll check em out. I find ACKS to be a bit more detailed than I want in a system, but I'm sure I can port out the mass combat without any problems.
