This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Are you all jazzed about any gaming stuff scheduled for release next year?  The only thing I've got on the radar right at the moment is Marc Miller's Traveller 5th edition.  I plan on getting it, but I have mixed feelings about the project.  He seems to be writing it for the increasingly small audience of hardcore Trav fans.

I don't really keep up with new stuff, but T5 is definitely one I'm watching.  I have the same reservations as you do about it, though.  I fear MWM will fail at pleasing the hardcore fanbase, at least based on the posts in the CotI forums; everyone has their own pet peeve about the game they want to see fixed.  And the task resolution system he's settled on seems to be the most reviled version (from T4), last I heard.
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

The English translation of DeGenesis, a German post-apocalyptic game, makes me curious.

Yeah, I saw the German version of the game @ Gencon this year. It looked great and I had someone translate for me some and it sounds realy cool.

So DeGenesis and T5 are on my watch list.

You know, the only future game that I know about and looks interesting to me is Forward to Adventure.
Running: Dogs of WAR - Beer & Pretzels & Bullets
Planning to Run: Godbound or Stars Without Number
Playing: Star Wars D20 Rev.

I don't see what can be done with a 5th edition of traveller that will make it notably different from the other 4, the GURPS edition, or the D20 edition.

I've caught a little bit of intriguing talk about a new ship design system that is simpler than LBB Book 2 and chargen where homeworld is wired in from the getgo.

But, yeah.  I just want a shiny new edition.

You know, I'm still Trav-curious, so maybe I'll look for it when it comes out.

Well, I'm looking forward to finding out how that new Changeling differs from the old game...
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

Spike

I'll probably check out the new traveller, particularly if it updates the 'setting' out of the seventies. :D   My trav history is spotty at best, and I'm no grognard (for Doug's sake I started with GDW! Haven't played it since, though I did find a copy of book 2 (original printing) lying on a table in a cafe in Kabul. Go figure!

Me? I'm looking forward to getting my hard copy of Qin in February.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

I've got quite a few things on my watch list:

The Dresden Files
nChangeling
Savage Solomon Kane
Castles and Crusades Keeper's Guide
Unhallowed Metropolis
Monte Cook's WoD

Whether or not I actually buy 'em depends on how good they actually are. But that's what's currently on my watch list.

beeber

just T5 and the WoWRPG monster book on my list so far.

and maybe get a newer edition of CoC for running a one-shot sometime (my copy is the GW 3rd ed.)

oh yeah, and maybe BRP, if that comes out.  i was going to add mongoose RQ, but have heard so many mixed/neg. reviews that i'll just look into the SRD instead.  (i know it came out this yr. . . .)

Dr Rotwang!

I just wanna GAME this year.

Oh, and T5.

Mr. Christopher

Is that Star Wars d20 "Saga Edition" scheduled for '07? I don't plan on buying it but I'm eager to see what's been changed.
