This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Old Geezer Q&A

With the whole wild West thing going on somebody just call him out. :)
Quote from: JonWakeGamers, as a whole, are much like primitive cavemen when confronted with a new game. Rather than \'oh, neat, what\'s this do?\', the reaction is to decide if it\'s a sex hole, then hit it with a rock.

Quote from: Old Geezer;724252At some point it seems like D&D is going to disappear up its own ass.

The Butcher

Only OG post I read here was in this clusterfuck of a thread and I had the impression he quit our little wretched hive of scum and villainy in disgust (especially since the post date jives with the "last seen" date on his public profile).

OG is a good guy, I guess, he just tends to let himself get involved with Tangency drama. And his excellent posts on the Old Ways get lost over at RPGnet's bad signal-to-noise ratio.

Rum Cove

He certainly would be more appreciated here.

I haven't seen anyone use James Coburn or Sam Elliott yet.  Which is really odd seeing at some of the people who have been used.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

I'm a narcissist, I had to go with a current picture of me, sorry bud, best I could do. There ain't room in this internet for two of my Egos.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

I sent him a PM. I asked politely, so he will come or not.  It's up to him.

Did either of the PMs remember to add "ignore the Wizard vs. Fighter Balance Bullshit thread"?

Also, if he does come, I hope users here remember that the thread would be about memories of things that actually happened "back in the day" and not an opportunity to debate the rightness or wrongness of those things, as frequently happens on the other forum... and also not a thread for people to discuss or even casually mention 3e or 4e, as did indeed happen in the "So..." thread on the other forum.

I mean, come on, guys.

Cthulhutech and Poison'd?

Rape and torture are boring. They're mundane, Evil Elementary School shit. If you want to do in an evil campaign, you have to top the Nazis... and they certainly didn't think of themselves as evil.

If you're being evil for the sake of being evil, go big or go home.

A proper, truly fucking evil, campaign, could be quite interesting actually. But I'm not sure I can think of anyone emotionally capable of handling it - certainly not me.

Everyone I've ever met who wanted to do what they thought was a "proper" evil campaign meant "Get our Manson Family on!" in the worst way.

This is why I disallow evil alignments for player characters in my D&D games.

In the only evil campaign i've ever played in, all we really did was try to kill each other and mess with the other PC's plans.

The campaign pretty quickly turned to neutral after that.

That, or they wanted an excuse for them personally to horde or steal all of the treasure, or to spy on all of the other party members.  In other words, as justification for the them as the player to be a dick.

Those types aren't welcome at the table either.
