 Browsed a little.

 The phrases and words... stuck up, pretentious, In love with themselves, arrogant S.O.B.s go through my mind.

 Also - I didn't recognize a single poster name over there  except one.   And this Ron Edwards guy? He seems to like talking to himself..../a lot. Saw many threads he started where he was the 1st, 2nd and 3rd person responding.

 The role playing games they talk about ? - I hadn't heard of most of them.

Out of the threads on the first page of Actual Play, four deal with DitV and three with D&D: hardly obscure, those. And since most of the other forums are devoted to discussing and developing their brand of indie gaming, it's no wonder that you might be unfamiliar with the titles unless you are already interested in such games.

I said it with Nox and I'll say it again.  Bullshit.  There's no way Koltar can hang around on SJG and TBP without having come across reference to the Forge and the ideas therein.

One thing you have to give the Forge credit for, and that's the stress on Actual Play.

Those threads can really contain useful gaming information, and are usually fun reads.

Oh My God!  I listened to this new "rap music" stuff for the first time today, guys!  I didn't understand a lot of it, but the stuff I did understand I found distasteful!

There's this guy named "Snoop Dogg". Apparently he likes to have sex with women, and shooting people. He must think highly of himself, because he was in a lot of songs, even appears in other rapper's songs.

Also, what's a "playa"? And how do I "Reprazent"?

The Forge is rather yesterday's news, even for the people around here who like to complain about it.  It was certainly more earth-shaking and less self-affirming a few years ago when the ideas were still new and the community less entrenched.

 Come up with some new material - or I might think you are a "sock puppet" for somebody else.  How the hell could I be a  "toady" on the Big Purple & Pink - if I don't even like that forum site?  You must have me confused with somebody else.

 As for the Forge? YES I've heard of it for at least  3 or 4 years - last time I stumbled across it ...it looked different or was formatted differently. This was the first time I ever looked at their "forums".  As for "ditv" (Dogs in the Vineyard? )  - that is not a game that a typical game store around here would have on the shelves.

 How in the hell could I be the reason that someone left the "Big Purple" - I don't post enough over there to even register on their radar (until recently.)

 Hell, for most of the fall I never even looked over  at the Purple and pink.

Oh yeah The  Forge = still kind of boring.

 That joke doesn't work - I'm so old that the first "rap" I danced to was "Rapper's Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang. I remember RUN-DMC when they were new and being played at my High school dances.

Except none of the Actual Play threads I've read contain actual play... they were summaries posted by the GM or a player.  It's disappointing, like going to a friend's house to watch actual football, but you're really watching the football stats channel.

Then again, the only realiable way to transcript games is playing them over aim or irc, and that seems less popular than playing in person.

If you wants tons of actual play reports, head over to rpol.net and browse to your heart's content.
