My first thought when I heard about this a couple of days ago was to wonder if Larry Elmore was still with us. Now that I know he is, I found myself wondering if there was some kind of legal action available to him. Clearly not, and it doesn't look like he'd be interested even if there was, but there really should be.

I'm not sure whether it's more insulting to an artist to clearly pervert the intent of his work after his death, or to do it while he's still alive but unable to do anything about it.

You can bet that if someone had tried to pull this crap with his work while he was still kicking, he'd have been a lot more vocal about it.

Also, does anyone else find it funny that they made the figurine into the most hilariously over-muscled woman? She looks more jacked than the man in the painting to me. Honestly, I'd have to have been told that was supposed to be a lady, or I wouldn't have known

There is something called moral rights. It differs by country. Basically, even if an artist sells a piece and its copyright, the artist can still retain moral rights which can protect how the piece may be presented and protect against defamation and other things. Moral rights vary widely by country. However I don't think moral rights existed in the US in the 80s.

it's wizkids they sucked the ass infused woke juice a few years back.  They stopped listing for the PC miniatures whether they were male or female.  This isn't surprising.  They don't know their audience's demographics and it shows.

Meanwhile, that encouraged me to buy my 3D printer and bye bye wizkids.  Dumb motherfuckers, they are easily replaced and you get a much better product.

I think it's the stance more than the outfit that makes the figure look unfeminine. The stance is what I judged most for why I interpreted the original image as a man. I think posed differently, even in the same armor/clothing, no one would have commented. Here's a similarly-dressed mini:

There have been lots of minis in women fighters in armor. Especially since there's little detail in the face possible, the two main ways to signal being a woman are (1) a prominent bust, and (2) the pose/stance.

I think it's great.

Here we have a warrior-woman, mother of four, devout member of the Church of Law. Her husband, in fact, is a high-level patriarch in the Church. She never went on adventures until her youngest was old enough to take care of himself. She only went on adventures with her husband, whom she loves and respects. Even though other men (and some women) have tried to seduce her, she laughs in their faces, because she is a one-man woman, and always will be.

Though she is a successful adventurer, she holds her positions as faithful wife and devoted mother as more valuable than clearing out labyrinths.

She respects property rights and freedom of speech. She thinks everyone has a right to bear arms, for self-defense. She visits the orphans and the widows, as the Church advises.

She's loyal to her friends, and quick to call out true injustice. She is skeptical toward those who want to tear down society and remake it into some hedonistic free-for-all.

If she has a fault, it is lack of impulse control. Her husbands has had to raise her from the dead a couple of times.

She is charging that dragon, because it wouldn't shut up about "production for use" and "from everyone according to their abilities, to everyone according to their needs."
