Oh, cool! A miniature based on Elmore’s iconic warrior! Oh…

It's a silly take to say, "This miniature reveals that the warrior on the Red Box was always a woman!"

As others have noted, the image on the Red Box can be interpreted as the same person in the blue, teal, black, and gold boxes. By the black box, we see the person's full-bearded face.

It probably would've been better to make two figures, one male and the other female.

Also, why are we not getting a miniature of the adventurers on the front of the Moldvay and Cook/Marsh boxes?

"Chud-upsetting or not"

Oh I see. Insult anyone who thinks this is absolutely fucking stupid given the fact it's a male warrior and always has been. Can WotC do anything except piss off all the people who actually play D&D and aren't merely using it to pander to Marxist sycophants?
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

As Elmore says, when he paints a woman, there's never a question about her gender.

Next they'll be telling us Clyde Caldwell's figures are ambiguous.
Old School? Back in my day we just called it "School."

"Chud-upsetting or not" is a part of the article and that's pretty much all I needed to see about the intent behind their content.  Well, it's safe to say then that wargamer.com belongs in the same garbage tier of websites purportedly about niche hobbies and interest along with Kotaku, rpg.net, and IGN that I stopped visiting or clicking the links to.  Admittedly, I wasn't a regular visitor there (unlike the others I listed above which used to be daily for me years ago) but now I'll be a never-visitor instead.

I went to Enworld for the first time since my first child was born 10 years ago.

I love the thread of comments bashing Elmore and how he doesn't know it is a woman or how CNA he say that.

If I wasn't banned from there I would certainly be after I would have posted on that thread.

Clueless idiots.

According to this site https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/dungeons-dragons-wizkids-50th-anniversary-set-red-box-warrior-reveal/:

QuoteWizKids also points out that their depiction of the Red Box Warrior is "purposefully and clearly" presented as a woman.

So a pair of breasts makes a human a woman in D&D, rather than how she identifies. Has WOTC managed to attack both sides of the culture war at once?

Rush in and die, dogs—I was a man before I was a king."

From the linked article:

"The face of the "Red Box Warrior" that appears on Larry Elmore's classic art on the cover of the 1983 "Red Box" for Dungeons & Dragons will be revealed for the first time in WizKids's D&D Icons of the Realms: 50th Anniversary set later this year."

Except...we've seen the character's face, already. I've mentioned the "Super7" action figure, but it is clearly implied that the person on the cover is the "poor but famous fighter" that is described in the player's book.

Also, it will be a rare miniature sold in a box among more common miniatures, like Magic: The Gathering card packs.

Exploderwizard

This is just WOTC giving another F you to long time D&D fans. I am not shocked nor will I give them another dime.

"Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia."

Yeah, it's kinda like that.

Fuck WoTC and Wizkids for there gas-lighting bullshit.
1. I'm a married homeowner with a career and kids. I won life. You can't insult me.

2. I've been deployed to Iraq, so your tough guy act is boring.

It's obviously a man. No self-respecting woman would wear that outfit.

The ones that crawl in are lean and thin

Your brains come tumbling down your snout
