This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

October! What are you running for Halloween?

That's too bad. It's a fun time of year. I'm from back east, Ohio specifically, and the entire month of October is dominated by Halloween - stores carry all kinds of stuff, from candy to costumes, "haunted houses" spring up everywhere, people decorate their houses and yards, and even the weather itself tends to reinforce the mood, with gloomy grey skies, bonfires, crisp, biting winds, and trees shedding their leaves. Out here in California, at least southern CA, Halloween doesn't seem to generate the same level of interest.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

well, the seasons aren't the same in SoCal, either.  my folks moved from here (NJ) to LA a few years ago.  mom was most unhappy by the lack of seasons in comparison to back east.  they're back east now, in RI; i expect great joy at reports of "there's an autumn here!" and the like.

it's easier to get in the holiday mood when the temp is a bit cooler, too.  a little bite in the air seems to add to the halloween vibe IMO.  wish it was that way at the moment

I love the change of seasons, right up until around January when I remember how very much winter sucks.

ah, the differences between new jersey and colorado.

And Colorado has miled winters compared to where I grew up (Watertown, NY). Years in the south and in Ca spoiled me.
