This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Taking a break from coding stuff so I thought I'd write some random RPG things.

I'm very excited about Cam Banks new Cortex Prime. He's a very good designer (he's good w/ mechanics), and Cortex is one of my favorite systems. It's like Savage Worlds and Fate had a baby and they just put in the stuff that I like.

I'm very excited about the new Savage Worlds RPG. I hope they rename Investigation skill Research, because that's what it is in the text.

I'm very excited about the new version of the Cypher Core system. They're taking the one part of the game that is challenging and making it more awesome - providing more built in support for Subtle Cyphers (cyphers that reinforce a genre instead of being a physical object).

I'd like to run a Castle Rock sandbox using CoC 7e or Delta Green 2e or Chill. I'd use Silent Legions as an engine for creating all the stuff to investigate.

My girlfriend and I are running a "friendly" Vampire the Masquerade LARP (using BNS MET) so my son has a LARP to play in with our friends. I'm very nervous about it. Unfortunately my players always end up being buddies in game so there's less PVP then their normally would be. Also, I don't like Vampires (they're terrible people, even nice ones).

I have a cool game called Revolution D100, which is like a cool generic version of the various D100 systems. It's very nice.

I just got my copies of WFRP 4E and, I hate to say it, Zwiehander seems a bit like a better deal for me - it's a mechanically simpler game AND the core book has a lot more stuff AND you can use it with anything.

Did everyone know about Border Princess for WFRP 2e? It's a sandbox engine of great elegance.

I think I'm going to try to restrict my game purchases to either stuff for systems I'm already into OR will have a lot of immediate mileage. Example (decision making):

Dystopia Rising Kickstarter - this game is obviously a sandbox, you could run a whole ton of stuff without having to prepare specific plots. It's pretty narrow (it's just this setting), so that's not great, but the setting is interesting.

City of Mist Nights of Payne Town - this games system is just unique to this game and setting, so the only thing I'm going to run with it is this game. I'm not 100% certain you couldn't run this with Savage Worlds or Cypher and get a pretty close approximation of the game's fun.

I found cool PDF I didn't know I had. It's Streets of Bedlam, which is like Sin City for Savage Worlds. It's very good and has a lot of sandboxy elements.

I have a setting called Cthulhu City, which is a sandbox city for Trail of Cthulhu. If i ran it I might use Savage Worlds or CoC 7e.

Also, I don't like that you can't buy a PDF for D&D 5e. I don't really like D&D 5e but I also don't like that I can't buy a PDF for it.

I don't give my money to commies and socialists who hate America. Too much hatred from their Twitter and Facebook accounts. It's showing up in most media these days by game writers.

I really dig Zweihander. Especially because I can write my own setting. Flavor to my tastes, put in the stuff I'm looking for...
