This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Not getting the vibe.

Quote from: jrientsWhat happened is that a lot of people who feel completely satisfied with the Old Ways discovered a place where they aren't considered fossils.  People being people, it became easier for some folks to vent their spleen about the Young Whippersnapper approach when surrounded by the likeminded.

A-fucking-men
My rules and comments about good GMing:
  • Improvise as much as you can
  • A character sheet is a list of items that tell you what the story should be about
  • As a GM, say "maybe" and ask your players to justify a "yes"
  • Immersion isn\'t a dirty word.
  • Collectively, players are smarter than you and will think of things you never considered.

But are you bi-partisan? Or even bi-partisan curious?

Is that a proposition?

But, wait, isn't that incompatible with Sett's goal to fly the starship?

Perhaps the vibro-katana is mounted on the front of Sett's starship that he is flying into another starship?

No - because then Sett could repair that Star Cruiser and fly it somewhere.

My goals are less ambitious than to fly starships. They are to entertain and divert myself for a few hours by making up characters and stories.

Then you should go ahead and do that!
Go, write that novel!

I have absolutely no desire to write a novel or achieve literary fame.

I am both writing a novel and playing RPGs. I get different things out of each, and the desires clustered around one activity aren't really transferable to the other.

A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies

Yes, but I haven't played it.  It didn't grab me, but maybe I need to look at it again?

Not if the cruiser is fulla space-dumbasses.  In which case -- GINSURAMA!

It didn't grab me either. It looks like a fantasy heartbreaker with a lot of fiddly subsystems (four different magic systems!).
