While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Marleycat;535510Let me get this straight you made a RPG about baseball? Being a huge baseball fan I think it's great of course but how do it work?

(My brothers always took me to baseball games I would do the score thing you do to really stay interested when nothing much happened).

Yeah, I really did. It was on my bucket list, and I had an immense amount of fun doing it. It runs like a regular RPG - it uses a subset of my StarCluster/StarPool mechanics - with a very limited skill set. It uses a pool of d20s equal to your skill+1, roll equal to or under your attribute, and count successes. The baseball skills have two alternate attributes to link to - for example all hitting uses the Hit skill, but to hit for power, your Strength is the TN, while in hitting for average your Coordination is your TN. You match skill check with the pitcher, subtracting the pitcher's successes from yours. If the pitcher wins, you get out, and if you succeed, you get a hit. How big an out or a hit depends on the number of successes and the situation on the field.

There are non-baseball skills that help on the field, like Deke and Intimidate and Goad, depending on your situation. Chargen is by combining two templates depending on the character's background and age, so it's very fast. Troupe play is recommended. :D

Sounds pretty cool to a baseball nut like myself. It's like combining my two favorite things, like a giant Reese's cup!!:D

I actually hang out on Mariner boards when I am not here. Best way to keep up with my Seattle Mariners.:)

(My brothers always took me to baseball games I would do the score thing you do to really stay interested when nothing much happened). I went to alot of games in San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle you can't convince me to go Kaufman (here in Kansas City) because the weather here is unbearable to watch baseball in my opinion. I'd rather just stay at home with the AC on and catch it on MLBTV.:)

My review...from the perspective of a guy who doesn't like to play baseball or watch baseball (but does like to watch baseball movies).

Cool, this game is offbeat enough for me to actually buy. But I roll to disbelieve that there's a Wrestling rpg. :)

Oh there is at least three I know of - Kayfabe, Wild World Wrestling, and The Squared Circle - and I possibly one more. There's also Contender, a boxing RPG. I don't know why wrestling is so well represented... :D

Can't blame me for this! I literally know nothing of wrestling, and it came of age long after I grew up. Boxing is a different matter entirely, as I grew up in the golden age of boxing, when giants like Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Hagler, and Leonard were battling it out in the ring, but I didn't actually write anything on boxing, unfortunately. :P

My foster father was a boxer and loved boxing. So I definitely know those names.

Ah! I too love boxing, so much that it pains me to see the clowns flailing around the ring these days. The great talents get into MMA now, leaving the third and fourth rate talents to slug it out. Those with skill have no power, those with power have no skill. I blame the almost exclusive use of PPV. If I ask a dozen people at random to name a current boxing champion, not one could name someone, and few under 30 could say they have seen a professional boxing match outside of movies. OTOH, 4 or 5 would tell me all kinds of stuff about MMA.

I suppose that's true but currently I couldn't give you a name of most any current boxer except maybe 3-4 and I have no idea about MMA. I do assume it's popular given it's on regular television quite often in my opinion.
