This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Anyone heard any news on the new edition of Deadlands Reloaded hinted about this year?

They only just closed the Deadlands Noir card game Kickstarter, so I'd expect we'll be seeing the new Deadlands kickstarter in the next few months.

Man... all of a sudden blood left my Primary Brain... and my Secondary Brain came online... all happy and ready to go.

I think they will ship out the new core book before doing another KS.

I went and pre-ordered the KS box set. I really like what I'm reading in SWADE and I look forward to the Deadlands reboot. Always loved that setting but only ever bought the GURPS books.

Are they using the original rules, or are they doing some other kind of fuckwittery?

It will be for the current edition of Savage Worlds not Deadlands Classic (which they still sell and have no reason to ever make a new edition for)

I was skeptical - but all the changes (except for the Shaken rules) have been good ones and I feel it's justified. Anything that will need to be tweaked can be handled in Setting rules within the specific setting.

Obviously nothing prevents anyone from the using the old edition which is just fine. Plus they made a document that shows all the changes. So technically you don't have to spend a dime.

I meant specifically there is no reason to revise the Deadlands Classic rule-books which are a different system than Savage Worlds.

Gotcha! I need to look at that edition.

trechriron

I prefer SW to classic deadlands. Sure, classic is dripping with flavor. However, the magic system is way to severe. To the point that playing one is a masochistic exercise in near-kitschy failure. I do however love the setting.

So, fuckwittery then.

Given that the new edition earned over half a million on Kickstarter, it's hard to characterize it as a bad move from a business perspective.

Seconded and why I sometimes am embarrassed to be a member of the hobby. Leave it to gamers to call a Kickstarter that funded in the amount of half a million a "failure" . Yet when it's theur favored rpg company no matter how terrible said rpg company treats their fans, or worse are not able to even remotely kick start a similar amount . No matter what anyone telks them that company is "success".

Given how wrong Pundit has been many times I take what he says on rpg failures with a continent sized grain of salt. Tje more time passes the more it seems like anyone that is more successful than Pundit he takes takes a dump on. Maybe it's jealously who knows.
