This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Myfarog - A Varg Vikernes production

Really. It is. Though I am wavering on posting this, as an association/discussion/link to said material could be used as a stick to beat RPGsite users/owner with.

Anyway, in the spirit of open debate and discussion (including one word answers and name calling!):  Myfarog is a pseudo-European (pre-Christian era) RPG written and released by Varg Vikiness.

I don't think, coming from said author, that this is something in the vein of "Mythic Russia". It could be. It could have fantastic flavour, interesting research and commendable depth. A little alarm bell rings in my head though.

For those who are not familiar with the name: (wikipedia entry)
QuoteThrough his writings he (Vikernes) promotes a neo-völkisch ideology (Odalism) based on the idea that White Europeans should re-adopt "native European" values, including elements of traditional paganism. He advocates White nationalism, social conservatism, and survivalism.

That's the man. What does he say about his RPG? In his own words:

QuoteMYFAROG is a role-playing game based on European values, geography, (pre-) history, mythology, traditions and morals, and will offer you the opportunity to play a game in accordance with your own European nature.

Naturally everyone cannot be happy with an RPG, but I will try to make MYFAROG as close as I can to what at least I see as perfect, and hopefully many of you will share this view with me when the game is published.

The idea behind this blog is to make a website to promote MYFAROG, but also to allow those interested to really find out what the RPG is all about, before they potentially puchase the game (when it has been published). Further, the blog was set up to provide support for gamers who play MYFAROG, with free and downloadable resources for them to use in their gaming groups.

Unfortunately, we are not currently able to gauge the system beyond the posted youtube video and PDF support material. The book(s) released are sold out. 100 people bought the books.

So, this flew under the radar. I would like to get hold of it to see if my reservations are confirmed or unfounded. I have done a bit of research into pre-historical Britain and it is an era I like, but this neo-völkisch ideology seems a bit silly to me. And then I look at the wiki entry for neo-völkisch and it seems less silly. Oh my.

It's like the anti-SJW system. Maybe I'm wrong, should this even be a thing? Is it something to worry about? It is as though on one side there are swine attacking the hobby, and on the other side, even more swine amplifying the crazy. In the middle are people.

If this serves no purpose for discussion, awareness raising and debate, lock and delete or something. My mind is blown.
I play these games to be entertained... I don't want to see games about rape, sodomy and drug addiction... I can get all that at home.

Love how the guy is legit happy he sold 100 copies and surprised any rpg can sell so many! it's like he has zero clue about sales numbers for rpg's on places like drive thru and lulu....then again this is the first time i've heard of the game or the guy who wrote it so that could be part of the reason.

Phantom Black

Fuck Varg Vikernes.
Seriously. With a burning rusty chainsaw mounted on a gatling.

My character sheet was inexistant, and when I hastly made one the GM didn\'t care to have a look at it."

I feel I should clarify, "neo-volkisch" is code for Nazi.   To go on to suggest that this is the opposite of "SJW" is bordering on massive trolling.   We're being extremely generous and assuming that you are really as much of a naive idiot as you desperately try to make yourself out to be in the OP, but not so stupid as to start this kind of subject again.

Be careful not to disabuse us of that opinion.
