This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So someone linked to http://nearbygamers.com recently and it's filling my geeky heart with glee, because I just relocated to a place where I can't find any gamers past college age due to a lack of FLGS.  (I've tried going to the college group's meeting, but it just made me feel antiquated.)

Clearly, everyone here should go register, and add 'theRPGsite.com' to your tags, just on principle.  Also, everyone should pass it on!  The more gamers who hear about this, the better my chance of finding people to game with.  (And yours.  But I care less about that.  No offense.)

Disclaimer: I assume this is the right forum, since it's at least related to roleplaying, but if it belongs in off topic please feel free to move it why my apologies.

Signed up. That's pretty cool. There's quite a few gamers in my area that I don't know. Cool.

Forgot I'd added a tag there a long time ago.  Updated my profile a bit.  I'm all alone in Northern Michigan.

It is a complete sausage fest around here.  And they all want to play 3.x or some kind of indie crap.

I need to move back to Wisconsin.  :)

Actually I first saw it here: http://www.emacswiki.org/alex/2008-08-14_NearbyGamers (via the RPG Bloggers uberRSS) but if you linked it here or anywhere else for that matter, thank you, because this is the sort of site that all gamers should be registered with.  I mean, IMHO, of course.  YMMV.  (HTH HAND omg ok i'll stop)

I know 3 girls who game and are from where I live, unfortunately I've dated 2 of them, and 2 of them have moved away.

As for game variety, I have to admit, my small group is open to new things.  We play 3.x but I refuse to run it, which works out well because B is a great DM.  I get to be the guy who broadens our horizons a bit.  :)

Haha, yeah that is confusing.

Sarah is awesome, she's the ex I still get along with and she liked gaming with us.  She moved away or I would definitely invite her into our current group.

Krystal is my other ex, and she cheated on me, which pretty much made it a unanimous vote not to bother letting her stay in the group.  (I didn't vote.)

Jess is one of my best friends and she's away at law school.

LOL! When I followed the link it went to an ad for Displaytech in Spanish.

Apparently it does not.

I'd try searching for Facebook and Discord for groups in your area (use your area and rpg as tags). I know there's at least one of each in my regional city.
