Title: Natural Bond
Post by: Yig on April 28, 2006, 08:04:38 PM
Here is the feat for easy reference (Complete Adventurer, p 111):

QuoteYour bond with your animal companion exceptionally is strong.

Prereq: Animal companion.

Benefit: Add 3 to you effective druid level to determine the bonus HD (and stuff) of your companion. Can't raise your effective druid level higher than your character level.

Is this working like I think it is? At druid level 7 I can get a dire wolf companion and give the bonus of a level 4 druid?

It means that you can raise you druid level for purposes of animal companions up to you total character level, max 3. Meaning, if you're a druid 7/rogue 3, you'd be considered a druid 10 for purposes of determining your animal companion's stats.

Yeah but better animals lower my druid levels... Say dire wolf (-6) with that feat would only be -3.

My interpretation.

Myself I think your both right :) at least in my games I would have it work in both of those cases.

Probably not what they intended, but I'd allow it.  It'd make animal companions suck a *little* less.  :)

Dang! I misread the title as "Natural Blondes" and dropped in for the jokes. Sigh! Disappointed again!

Until my druid could wildshape, my wolf was more effective than him :)
