"tickets went on sale at 3pm yesterday and promptly sold most things out by about 3:01pm yesterday. We're going to be busy. Really busy. Busier then we have ever been before at a Gencon....."

We need more judges for the LFR events at GenCon. If you are interested, let me know! Judging is a very cool way to get involved with RPGA, get free stuff, and you will be picking up/learning the new system at the same time as everyone else. Our slots sold out very quickly so we have expanded them, and we are especially looking for night judges and so on. I am doing 7 slots, and I will be glad to work with you before the con to get you spun up on 4E. Want to do something more fun than hanging out in the loud-ass annoying dealer room or just walking around wishing you could get into a game all convention? Yeah, the cool thing about GMing is you basically get to game for the entire show, meet a zillion people and have a great time.

Judging 4 slots gets you into GenCon for free. 7 Slots gets your hotel room comped. And there's often all kinds of other benefits, (like at DDXP we usually get free books and possibly a meal ticket at some point.) Good attitudes and mad skills are a necessity!

Don't be shy about not knowing 4E yet, we teach it. We'll get you an RPGA number, we'll get you through the Herald exam if necessary. You just need to be a good, fair DM.

Poke poke. Feel free to pass this info on to DMs who aren't usually hanging out here.

email me at pseckler13 (at) msn.com or PM me for info.

GenCon this year is from 14-17 August.

Well, GenCon judges in a general sense can GM anything they want, but that deadline may have passed.

But this is very specifically for Living Forgotten Realms. We (LFR) release modules on a schedule., and the modules are written by LFR players and admins, vetted by WOTC R&D and the Forgotten Realms novel team (yup) and then placed on the schedule. If you were to volunteer as a judge, you would have a choice of 6 or 7 mods that are on the schedule, I think .. or the Delve.

Caveat (important) for Judges: In general, the Senior Gm wants judges to only judge 1 or 2 mods per show. So you can't like judge 7 slots of 7 different mods. You will go nuts trying to do that. Instead. you pick 1 or 2 mods, and judge those for however many slots. Like I am doing the same mod for 5 slots and then another mod for 2 slots. The idea is to be polished and have the module down really well.

If I was going I'd GM 7 slots anyway.

Can you pick the times?

The slots are technically 5 hours, but that includes about an hour of settle-in and debrief time at beginning and end.

In general you don't tinker too much with the mods- we want to maintain quality control. But you do have the authority to make minor modifications and to make it work for the group. As an example of something I did at DDXP: There was a minor encounter with some triceratops. There was an encounter with some lizardmen barbarians. I combined the two by mounting the lizardmen on the triceratops.

It just seemed cooler that way.  But no, you can't like.. majorly rewrite stuff.

You do get the module sin advance, and in fact you get the opportunity to "Slot 0" it.. which means you get to play it with the other DMs (only DMs, not players)  first to try/test it out. The idea is to be really polished and present a really good experience at the big show.

People pay for these shows so it is a big deal they we give them a great experience (and the RPGA compensates DMs very well). But man, for the last few years at least, it's been like the best thing going in D&D.

I Have been in the RPGA for a while, done many games and Have hearld Level Status, and would be totaly in to do it. But you guys got rid of gen con on the west coast, and now we have the shitty cons left to squable over. Thanks a lot, A-hole who was in charge for Gencon LA. Thanks.

Now my only excitment is Comic Con, and some other small cons, and the ass raping price that is Blizzard. Thanks. MotherF#$^@'s.

Send lube.

And GENCON. PLEASE!
