This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Thanks for answering my questions, Estar.

Quote from: estar;230405... With the the three lands (the fourth being an outer plane) not only they would be in different regions but also different times. The time order would be Borderland, Wildland, and Southland being the latest. Acheron being an outer plane is essentially timeless...

Interesting, although I would've preferred them to all take place at the same time, and be part of the same overall setting (like the Wilderlands), with each nonetheless 'freestanding'.

Not a big deal, of course...

Joesph Goodman and I talked about that. Likely yes as a downloadable PDF.
...

That would be great!

The format is an experiment as only a handful of products been done like this...

I love products like this!  Even if I don't run them as written, they're fun to read and great to mine for ideas.

Awesome Rob, even more excited about this than when you first announced it.

I LOVE coded graph maps!  Hoorah!

Definitely will be picking this one up.

The main focus of Point of Lights will be on good writing and a consistent level of quality. So that when you see a Points of Light module you know what you are buying like with the Dungeon Crawl Classics.

It may turn out like the old DC Comics series Showcase where different superheroes are featured each issue. The most popular got to go onto their own series. The same with the settings of Points of Light.

However right now it is early to say exactly how it going to evolve. All I can say is that for the settings I write I am preserving the option of an future Aerth style mashup. Some of the PoL settings will be part of the main campaign, while others will be background, and other will be options for the GM to implement for their "future" history.

One of the ideas that is part of the proposal was taking the same land and present in it four different time periods decades apart. This would emulate the style of the Great Pendragon Campaign but in a less expensive and intimidating format.

So there going to be a lot of things we are going to be doing with Points of Light than detailing a setting to the Nth degree.

QuoteThe most notable supplement for this edition is The Great Pendragon Campaign, a massive (432-page) hardcover scenario book which details events, adventures and characters from Uther Pendragon's reign in 485 through to the end of the Arthurian era. The earlier version of this supplement, "The Pendragon Campaign", won the 1985 Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Supplement.[5], and "The Great Pendragon Campaign" won the 2007 Diana Jones Award.

Really, any imaginative DM could tie those together with a little thinking.  This looks like something I will definitely pick up.

Someone should give Joseph Goodman copies of the old Judges Guild maps that were so awesome.  He's doing the best job in the industry right now and I'd love to see him go head to head with the best ever.  (I6 too, but that took a high level artist)

That would be quite cool!  :)

Where is the other guy? Why is he not posting? Or was he just a minor writer?
It looks like something I can use but I like to know the people's stuff I intend to use.

I like that smallish map of the castle -- says a lot without so many words... :) But then I like the product in its entirety.
Now with a Zine!

There are three of us who are friends and been playing together since 1983. Myself, Tim Shorts, and Dwayne Gillingham. While all three of us have GMed at some point, most of our roleplaying has been done in my Majestic Wilderlands.

I run my campaign as a sandbox with the players free to set their own goals and wander about. So a lot of the elements I draw on for my RPG writing comes from the concepts that arise from these games.

Tim, my editor, is great at coming up with interesting NPCs and motivations as well as being a writer of poetry and short fiction. Dwayne is great at coming up with far out concepts and using the rules to create interesting situations. Dwayne is also has the best memory out of all of us as well a being a Gunnery Sergeant in the US Marine Corp.

I am good at worldbuilding; history, culture, religions, etc. I also ran and managed Live-Action Roleplaying events for 10 years (NERO i.e. D&D in the woods). After the birth of my last boy I didn't have the time anymore so I turned to honing my writing skills. I used the opportunity of working with Necromancer Games and Judges Guild to get more work in the industry. Which eventually led to this project.

I am super impressed. Consider it bought.

Grrr... Went to my FLGS today and they didn't get it in, apparently they were out at the local warehouse, which probably means the haven't gotten it in yet, either that or they've all been shipped elsewhere.
The other game store in town didn't even know about it. I at least corrected that much. Oh well guess it'll might be a little while yet before I can get my hands on this, but looking forward to it.

Update: My perseverance pays off, I managed to find a place in town that got 1 copy in. Hope this dosen't mean there was some sort of shortage problem, cause, I'm just a few pages in, but so far it's a very inspiring read, and thing deserves to get some love.

Checking Amazon it's saying September (UK) or October (US) release date.  :(

I think it because Goodman gives FLGS  first dibs. However from my experience with Badabaskor and watching the DCCs going through it can be all over the place.
