This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Borcoli is no vegetable. It is, in fact, a forest. In Montana. It merely projects its lesser self onto your consciousness from there.

Knightsky

Quote from: J ArcaneEveryone who DOES like the originals, seems to hate it with a passion.  Because, frankly, it's absolutely not the same game as Gamma Worlds 1-5.
As a fan of the original GW (1st and 4th ed), I don't think it's as awful as most people make it out to be.  Mind you, I don't think it's great by any means, but it has some usable, stealable bits in it.

It's just that it has no business actually calling itself Gamma World.

Well, that was kinda what I was referring to, sorry I idn't make that clear.

The complaints seem to run along the lines of what you just said: It has absolutely nothing to do with Gamma World.

See, I vaguely remember flipping through it in the game store, and didn't it have nanotech, and completely lacked mutant plants? I have Gamma World 4th Edition (which I like), and I remember it being different (originally).

Did they forget what Gamma World is supposed to be, or what?

I'm taking that cat home with me. So back off; he's mine! :D

AS I recall, it doesn't have any mutants at all, but I may have been misinformed, and it's been a while since I thumbed through it (and at that point I had no familiarity with the GW games beyond occasional praise for the older games).

And as I said, to hear Pundit tell it, the reason has to do with Mr. Baugh thinking that the gonzo "wild and wahoo" style of play was badwrongfun and wanting to teach all of us roleplayers how we're supposed to be playing.
