This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Silly you, it's the new recipe book by Monte Wød, famous norwegian cook!

Learn how to prepare a perfect lutefisk in only 21 days (note: actually learning only 1 day).

Quote from: David RDoes anyone know any details about the book ? I'm definitely getting it...but some details would be nice.

There really is no info on what it's about.

As Jeff pointed out, it looks post apocalyptic. Maybe a "after the bomb" version of WoD?

Could be - all Vampire Hunter D or something.

I was thinking of a sorta Wraith style malestrom from the picture.
Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

Isn't this how Florida looks like?

Now I'm really interested.

Quote from: Erik BoielleI think they may think he's a feature.

Mr.Cook certainly believes he is.

Hey, my point is just that if the RPGPundit is looking at a guy and saying "wow, he's pretty conceited", then that guy (warranted or not) must be have a serious imperial shitload of conceitedness.

Not quite...
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

For me the one that sealed the deal was when Cook put his own name above the logo of Iron Heroes.  Maybe that was a smart business move, but it still looks like hubris to me.

Out of curiosity, what second career is it that Monte's planning to move on to? Surely he didn't make so much cash as to retire to Aspen?

Well, there's certainly an increasing cult of personality in the last few years of gaming. But it's a bit hart to separate marketing from actual Paris-Hilton-ness. He founded his own company, so his name (as a contributor to D&D 3) was certainly a big factor. Which made his name even more well known. Most other studios have some big personalities, too, but they're usually hidden behind the company name.

From his blog posts and design diaries, he seems pretty down to earth. But as they say, you never know a GM until you killed his Mary Sue character...

Writing fantasy fiction, I think.

Apparently, here's the synopsis:

QuoteA World in Darkness
One year ago, eldritch horrors of cosmic malevolence called the Inconnu attempted to destroy our reality. They failed, but the attempt left the world in rapidly-darkening shadow. Dead souls returned to claim living bodies, creating blood-drinking undead fiends: vampires. Bestial spirits came as well, to create werewolves, and demons formed bodies from worldly matter. Magic crashed back into the world, and mages wield its power for whatever purpose suits them. Humans called the Awakened unknowingly keep the darkness at bay. These supernatural creatures struggle against each other and clash in the shadows, most attempting to destroy the world, but some few fighting to preserve it. And over it all, the Icconu {sic} still lurk, squeezing the world like an eggshell.

The World of Darkness Re-Imagined {tm}
This book includes a complete setting: a new vision of the World of Darkness.
* Characters play as vampires, mages, werewolves, demons, or Awakened. They wield frightening supernatural powers against their own kind.
* The world is the one we know, but now much darker: destruction in the central US, nightmares coming to life, and beasts roaming shattered cityscapes.
* Uses the most popular roleplaying system in the world.
