This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Now Monte does say this is in no way am indictment of 5E or his experience on the 5e team (well he suggests it isn't at least). But I found this interesting:

I'm guessing you mean 5e?  In any case, I suspect playtester comments on 5e have been ignored, after reading Monte's post. Something like that could very well have made him quit, if he agreed with the playtesters.

Yup. My guess is that Monte saw the release schedule sent from on high and realized the playtest would be pointless.

I agree. Late May play test folowed by a September release makes the play test worthless. That puts all the pressure on the Nda folk to iron things out. As I said in the other thread Provolone is on its way. :)

I think using a type of cheese as code-name for their product is a really bad idea.

Uninfortunately it could be a harbinger of things to come.

So if I'm reading this correctly, the job of the game designer is to listen to what the players say they want, and then figure out what they actually want and design for that.

Though I think the 'One D&D to Rule Them All' philosophy is destined for failure, I have to agree with this bit.

That's the job of a programmer, architect, ad executive, industrial designer, anyone in any industry what-so-ever.

In practice, this type of information is quite difficult to determine.  :pundit:
