Modiphius just released a few videos about their new "post-apocalypse" RPG called Dreams and Machines.



Nothing exemplifies a modern post-apocalypse setting like a team of preposterously diverse heroes all wearing ornate and colorful clothing and hair style. A racial diversity which means that in the future all races will live in harmony but also that they have racial purity laws so strict that will make even most hardcore ethno-nationalist say "Yall takin this a bit too far."

The top off the current year perfection, the enemy of the campaign is AI. Not only using the newest buzzword but completely insuring that no one will ever claim that their bad guy is a harmful racial stereotype.

I do admire their ability to create something so safe, non-threatening, and inoffensive.

The voice over is hilarious. Particularly with Modiphius being a British company.

Well, that brought out the technicolor yawn from me.

The voiceover and presentation is like watching an advertisement for some revolutionary new tech at the beginning of a dystopian sci-fi flick ... so the visceral message here is that Modiphius is a horribly evil corporation that will destroy humanity.

I agree with the OP that a "far future" scenario emphasizing racial disparity diversity would suggest an interim history of extreme ethnic sequestration.

Racial homogenization means that the dominant ethnic group did a colonialism to everyone else. For the sake of diversity is our strength, ethnic groups have to be prevented from interbreeding. However, this has to be achieved without anti-miscegenation laws.

What if all of the ethnic groups were intensely xenophobic and racist towards one another, but it wasn't considered racist because they're all minorities?

Looks like "Horizon: Zero Dawn". Odd that this is by the same company as the recent "Conan" RPG.

That was my first thought as well.

Licensed IPs are Modiphius' bread and butter, and they've had some degree of success with their Dishonored and Fallout lines. I almost wonder if they tried to license Horizon and got shut down by Sony.

Yeah, I have to agree that the diversity thing is the result of racism/colorism. It's considered a problem in places like Brazil. They're fairly mixed race after a few centuries, but not enough to prevent colorism.

Not that I'm really surprised about the woke being racist toward everyone.

Given the thin margins on TTRPG material, I wouldn't be surprised if the license fees take a majority of the profit. It would make sense for them to create their own IP that they can use freely. Fantasy Flight Games did something similar when they reskinned their Star Wars game to their Descent world.

It looks more like a bad board game than an RPG.  I think I'll stick to a GOOD post-apocalyptic board game that's like an RPG in a box, and one that's not woke in the least:
