This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I love the concept, know Evil DM wrote Broadsword for it, but had a few questions about the 1PG system:

-Does it do any genres or playstyles better than others?  Any genres or playstyles it really wouldn't support?

-Are there advancement mechanics for it?  Any method of sustained, multiple-session gameplay?

-Any thoughts on what the best products are for it? I was thinking towards fantasy, retro/pulp spy stuff, and space opera/space military sci-fi....

Id love to answer your questions in depth, my homie, but I can encapsulate it all best by saying:

They're Rotwang! Approved.

OK, OK.

- They support the "Let's-play-a-game-tonight-what-one-oh-I-dunno-something-fast-and-easy-really-
I-just-want-to-roll-a-die-and-beat-some-monkey-ass" style of game play very well.

- Yes, there are advancement mechanics, but I'm not sure you want to build a year-long campaign out of it.

- The only product I didn't like as much as the others was "Full Clip", and THAT was only because I thought the adventures missed the mark -- not in tone but in accessibility.

Hmmm.  More podcast grist...

They're easy to mix and match e.g.  you want gun-fu horror - get Shriek + Full Clip, you want Stardust - Idyll + Bloode Island (for the skyship).

Star Legion is one of the easiest rules-lite sci-fi systems - less crunchy than Hardnova, more options than Starcadets.

I've posted a full reply on the 1PG forum. Basically what the good Doctor says.
