This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm not concerned with videography or being entertained. The crappy sessions I linked sucked because people were constantly interrupting, it was really vague who was doing what when, or there was wayyyyy too much DM exposition.

I'm not looking for a TV show. Show me a session and say "this might look boring but if you were there in person you'd be having the time of your life. Imitate this."

Good enough?

A good RPG session is no different than a group of buddies telling the long story of what happened to them when they were out on the town, the night before, to their girl friends. And you're there, listening to it all.

Some guys are terrible at telling stories. Those guys suck in RPG sessions.

I am not the type of person who would just watch two other people playing chess if I had absolutely anything else I could be doing; but at least I could understand the rationale behind watching two people (especially talented people) playing chess.

I can't understand the point of watching other people playing an RPG.

I'll watch someone play a videogame for a bit to figure out how to get past a roadblock, different ways to approach a boss or secrets I may have missed but I similarly am lost how people can watch it for entertainment. But then I do remember back in the days of the arcade kids gathering around to watch someone who had got particularly far in a game. But that was for a relatively short amount of time as well.

I'm not much interested in watching other people do anything unless they're my kids or friends. That would include everything from nerds playing RPGs on YouTube to millionaires playing professional football at the stadium.  I'd rather be doing something myself.
