This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

With the exception of the Player's book layout and organization, I will readily agree with that statement. The Gamemaster's book is one of the finest books that anyone can own.

Hollow Earth Expedition.

The setting info is good, but it's the rule system that appeals to me. I love Ubiquity - fast, simple, easy to tweak, love the use of style points, taking the average rule ... 10/10 :)

Savage Worlds might have been included in that list, however my dislike for Shane Hensley tainted my preferences with SW. My preference is and will remain that I will absolutely not buy a game from any publisher, if that publisher (or his or her representatives) sits down at a gaming table and works to wreck the game experience for new RPG players. I'm sure he would never do this with his own game, of course. Though based on experience, I don't believe it would be beyond him to run off any GM that didn't play SW in a style that he personally approved of.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

Mine. Has to be someone elses? Spirit of the Century, then, because it delivered FATE to me by way of the OGL. Reign is in second place with a couple of other ORE variations.

Iron Heroes is a personal favourite, with Arcana Unearthed/Evolved close behind.

For non-d20, I quite like both nWoD and Dark Heresy.

I badly want to get some more Dark Heresy time.

So far the only actual play I've been able to muster was some combat playtesting with the GM of my former group, and my roommate.  It was great fun, and I'd intended it as a way of priming people's excitement, but the GM instead used it as an excuse to claim the game must therefore be all about combat and he'd rather just play D&D (an ironic excuse considering that's all his damn D&D games are).

Need to get on the boards at the FLGSes and see if maybe I can't round up some locals.

The ones we have played recently, Usagi Yojimbo and Capitán Alatriste, but I don't know if they count, because UY is based on Ironclaw and CA is based on GURPS. Your call.

A very cool combat system, indeed. Some day I'll have to dust the books and run a game of The Riddle of Steel.
