This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I was given some metal dice and Adventure anthology 1 & 2 for Basic Fantasy.

Indeed, a Merry Christmas.

Got some RPG goodness as well, continuing a tradition started in 1981, when I got the D&D magenta boxed set (Moldvay) for Christmas.

I own it and I've posted a review of it in my cyberpunk reviews thread.  Here's the 30 second review .

Good:  It has an excellent system for the kind of game it's trying to be.  It's tightly focused on specifically hunting down rogue replecants and dealing with the mental and emotional fallout of doing that and it's very good at it.

Bad:  It's so focused that it's a one trick pony.  It would take significant home brew to do anything else than doing police procedurals and becoming an alcoholic.

In the end, it's a niche game that will be perfect for some tables but limited in scope as to the variety it can offer RAW.

Terrible idea, overwhelming majority of ttrpg players can't pass Voight-Kampff test.

The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your teeth fall out
Your brains come tumbling down your snout
Be merry my friends
Be merry

Merry Christmas all!

I got the Hacklopedia of Beast 2, a couple of the latest Knights of the Dinner Table Magazines (apparently they are switching to a longer bi-monthly format for the next issue - I have conflicted feelings about that), and an adventure for Hackmaster.

I hope many folks get to play a "new to you" game in January!

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.
