This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Does somebody owe me a beer now, and can I substitute red wine instead?

Beer? wine? Wild Turkey tastes better, works faster and you wake up in the same jail.

GURPS can substitute a wine for beer.

Well if a game we wanna play has its own system and it's well suited to the setting and works well enough we'll just run the system. Like the FFG system in the wh40k RPG games they did. The system worked, was fairly easy and fit the setting g so we learned and used it.

It could, but it would feel awkward.

I picked "change every few months," which is the closest to what we end up with. We have a couple GMs, so we tend to just kind of switch off. I usually run 1e AD&D or original D&D, with an occasional BRP game thrown into the mix. The other main GM has usually runs Warhammer Fantasy (2e) or Labyrinth Lord with the Advanced companion or Call of Cthulhu. He ran another Games Workshop RPG, too. Dark Heresy, I believe.
The problem is not that power corrupts, but that the corruptible are irresistibly drawn to the pursuit of power. Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito.

I haven't had a regular group for a long time, mostly just pick up games at Cons.

When I did have a regular group most were really good at trying new things, there were a few D&D die hards (ok, really just one who would wheedle and whine about why the game du jour sucked. The others D&D was just their default all things being equal, but they were cool with other games).

We typically changed games every 4-6 months, with a few in regular rotation but only getting together weekly / bi-weekly. At the peak when we were gaming a couple times a week, game of the week or month was definitely a thing.

While OSR is usually my default umbrella-system, because I'm typically running 3 or 4 games at a time, there's usually at least one system being run that isn't OSR.  Right now there's Aces & Eights, for example. And before that Traveller.
