SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

And just because someone pushes a button, you don't have to jump. There is also that. A lot of people here are too eager to jump on threadcrapping, and the way they do it can destroy discussion as surely as a thread lock. And that, right there, is dancing to the trolls' tune.

When trolled upon, return troll.  However I won't gum up threads with constant replies like that.

Thank you for the lesson, professor. Honestly, not much of a reason to get your panties in a twist, IMO. :boohoo:

FWIW, I don't know who AM is, so when I read your replies, it's really hard to know when it's your reply, or when it's a mockery of someone else.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

BTW, I encourage those that care about the issue of DMing and rulings, not rules to actually comment on the WotC page (you need a login to be able to comment, but if you downloaded the playtest packet you should have one). Just to mitigate the unavoidable echo-chamger effect of 4e fans crying murder over this.

Quote from: Sacrosanct;544078Actually, there are a lot of things I like about 2e that I have implemented into my 1e games (thief skill progression, bard classes, THAC0, priest spell spheres).  And I don't have a lot against 3e, FWIW.  In fact, I'm getting ready to play my first TT version of it pretty soon.  My biggest gripe about 3e is that it seems to shift the emphasis away from archetype flavor and into "best build".  That, and it really started the whole "minis are required to play the game fully" shift.

Agreed. The reason I do like 3e is the custombility. I'm not a fan of tactical combat or the grid, I use it if I have to but I prefer not. And believe it or not I didn't like how they removed all limitations from magic users. Problem is 4e went too far in the other direction. My hope is that I can use 5e to strike some sort of balance that works for me.

Seconded. Most wotc forum users seem to be 4e players. Also, they just released the first survey for the playtest. People should respond to that as well.

Quote from: Marleycat;544070Why am I being included in this? Did I somehow become a 4venger without looking?:D

(Which would be pretty hard to do given I don't have any 4e books or DDI account).

Yeah Marley has never struck me as much of a 4e fan.

Do you click on Playtest to get to it?

This pretty much sums it up.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

I cant remember now. I think you click on playtest and then sign up with your email. Then they send you a link to then file. At the very least you should be able to open up a wotc community forum account and ask one of the mods how to proceed. I really think they are leaning heavily on their forum feedback. It wouldn't surprise me if the next playtest doc is even more 4e in style based on what I am seeing.

They did? Do I have to go somewhere to get it?

Oh I see, wait till I post this and then email me! That's it, 5ed is made of fail!

You should have received an email notice (that is how I got it). Takes about twenty minutes to fill out and they ask specifically about stuff like HD and healing.
