This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Palladium's New Digs (a.k.a. New website)

HG may or may not be dragging its feet, but I'm pretty sure that Palladium could do an Invid Invasion sourcebook tomorrow if they so chose; that had to be part of the original plan.  The fact is that Kevin keeps putting it on the back-burner, when what he should really do is farm that off to someone else and have them do it for him.  Sadly, I seriously doubt we'll see an Invid Invasion sourcebook (or any other Robotech book) before 2011 comes to an end.

I was under the impression that all of the new Robotech sourcebooks were written by freelancers.
Like everyone else, I have a blog

Invid Invasion was written by Irvin Jackson* and turned in a few months ago.

It does look quite nice. I agree, those drop-downs are pretty slick.

Please guys, don't be naive.  The real story of the Invid Invasion book is that after the falling out with the guy who was doing the Robotech books (Marker?), Kevin gave it to some other dude, who has obviously turned in something that, as usual, is not the exact thing Kevin imagined it would be.  So now Kevin refuses to publish anything until he can personally and meticulously re-write the whole damn thing (taking either a shared credit or main credit for authorship).  Only because he's always doing this with almost every book, he has no time.  And Robotech falls on the backburner to whatever RIFTS book is coming out, the new t-shirts, the latest lawsuit, etc.

I'll be flabbergasted if Invid Invasion comes out anytime earlier than January 2012.
And for that matter, I'd still be pleasantly surprised if it comes out anytime earlier than June 2012.

They had to do some layoffs and Jason Marker was laid off. As he had a family and wanted more job security he opted not to come back since there was no guarantee at the time it would not happen again.

The Invid Invasion book was then assigned to Irvin Jackson. It was only turned in a few months ago and still awaiting review the last I heard.

RPGPundit

All I know is that with pretty well every weekly update Kevin mentions that he's had to put Invid Invasion on the backburner because of whatever other thing is going on.  His level of priority for Robotech product is pretty clear based on that.

Jason also turned in a manuscript for Invid invasion, prior to being laid off.
(I do not know if it was a draft or final, but I do know a manuscript was given to Kev)

In his latest murmers post, he mentioned online sales have plummetted since  the website redesign.  Any ideas why?

Fixed that for you. ;) :p

EDIT: In seriousness, people are having to learn how to navigate your new on-line store, and if sales have dropped that significantly, you should make sure the new website isn't dropping sales (pages not loading, info not going through, cannot select the items you want to purchase, etc).

I mean, I'd like to think Palladium's on-line fanbase can all run Flash animation on their computers. :S

Personally, I think the site design sucks. Maybe not completely, but not far off. I could rant, but this isn't a design forum, so I will desist.

It's a shame, I like Palladium's games, but if selling books is this site's goal, then imo it's well below par.
