So just today I got a huge package of LotFP books in the mail, for review. Among these was the (relatively) new LotFP rulebook. Apart from being a very nice hardcover, and the appendices at the back, are there any differences in the actual rules between the old book from the grindhouse edition and this new book?

The one I got from the first kickstarter had all the rules from the first book of Grindhouse, plus also firearms rules. The front and back do have useful references.
I was aware of those differences; I was wondering if there were any other differences to the actual rules materials. At first glance all I found were some revisions to the spell section (they took out the "Gate" spell, for example).

"Largely this is the same rules that appears in the Grindhouse Edition, with the exception of an overhaul to the layout and the addition of rules for early modern firearms and armor."
This is my impression -- with the two editions side by side it looks like the HC version just cleans up the layout and makes corrections (e.g. removing Gate, which shouldn't be in Grindhouse). HC fonts are clearer but I like the Grindhouse fonts with the medial s.
Pretty much the same other than there is section for guns and new armor.
I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more additions / changes and the book was so small. Ive been playing in a Lotfp campaign now for the last two years, and in that time now have to wear geezer glasses to read that small print :o
I'm just glad to have a new rulebook; my old copy (from the Grindhouse edition box set) was getting quite worn from several years of continuous play.
