This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: thedungeondelver;565284First of all, I wanna say that's really good stuff.  How do your resolution mechanics go?

Thanks! The playtest was awesome fun! :D

There are four resolution mechanics included with the game - a percentile roll under mechanic, a d20 roll under attribute dice pool, a d6 addition roll over pool with exploding 6s, and a d6-d6 roll over averaging mechanic. Use whichever one you want, or download another one from the site - there are diceless, risk dice, and 4d6-4 roll over mechanics there as well. You ought to find something you like out of that bunch! Each of them lends a different flavor to the game.

Well, that's totally kick-ass, you should do the "US soldier in Fulda during a conventional war" thing next.  I would completely buy that.

Thanks, DD! So, a what-if Cold War scenario? Doable! That sounds like fun! :D

Absolutely.

Got a ground or air-to-ground vehicle combat system?  If not, I'll bash one together for you.

Thanks for the offer, dd, but vehicle combat is kind of my specialty. I have my modern mercenaries game In Harm's Way: Wild Blue, and my military SF game In Harm's Way: StarCluster to put something together from. :D

You're very welcome.  I love the "in Harm's Way" series, and have since the original, although I have a soft spot for "Aces in Spades."  My day job is history teacher, and this game came out right as I get ready to do the World Wars in my summer class...so it was irresistible!

Plus, I've been trying to do a review every other Tuesday, and I haven't done a full game review yet in written form.  I crosspost all of my reviews onto DriveThruRPG and RPG.net (I still like their reviews section).

Keep us posted, clash.  I want some fast-and-furious armor-on-armor modern (cold) warfare style action!

That is wicked! I'm glad the timing worked out so well! Will you be using the game in class? That would be a hoot! :D

I too still like their review section. They have some excellent reviewers there.

Don't hold your breath, DD - I have one project already in Alpha playtest and another in the pipeline. Think next year. :D

Added a thing to the In Harm's Way: Pigboats page - a pdf compiled from the 13 Actual Play reports of the Alpha Playtest of the game. On some fora*, I have gotten some reactions like "how could this be fun?" so I posted up links to these APs from my blog. The reaction was great, getting some folks who were doubtful pumped about the game, so I put them together in a pdf, spell checked them, and put them up for free download.

Enjoy! :D
