Title: Looking for a decent map/city/room creator for Shadowrun.
Post by: Kotrh on March 03, 2010, 05:06:30 AM
Hi! ^.^

I'm trying to find a decent city, building and room creator/generator specifically for the Shadowrun setting.

If anyone can give me some advice on what to get, be it free or through purchase, I'd be much appreciative ^.^

Thank you!

A random map generator? For Shadowrun?

Just pick (http://www.satellite-sightseer.com/id/6043) a map (http://www.flickr.com/photos/telstar/7441740/) from (http://www.cam.ac.uk/map/) Google (http://www.google.com/) or any SR fan page (http://www.aelfhame.net/~dragon/SR/maps/). You can also buy the classic Sprawl Sites (http://www.battlecorps.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=28_187_85&products_id=1426).

Are you wanting to make maps of your own? Google's Sketchup program might let you do that. I've only poked at it, but you might take a look at it.

For modern city campaigns I tend to find atlas maps a bit cumbersome.  I find the maps in phonebooks much more manageable as they frequently chop out less important streets and usually have useful landmarks indicated.

Yup...especially for office buildings, bars, rooms etc etc.  Usually I use a whiteboard but having a "blueprint" of a location adds more flavor to the game ^.^

Thanks for the recommendation...definitely trying that one out.

I'm also trying Smartdraw...very user friendly and good selection of props and templates.
